Okay. I have to say I have ixtreme 1.51 on my system with a lite-on. I have always used imgburn to burn discs. The slowest speed I can burn on is 1x, but for convenience's sake I usually burn at 2-2.4x and this option works. What happend with Fight Night 4 and Red Faction Guerilla was that when I inserted the disc after the 2x burn both of them came up as DVDs and when I read the discs in my laptop they had video and audio_ts folders with the very xbox screen you see when this happens to your discs (or a bad burn).
Is this some sort of new security feature? I should be able to play all known backups with 1.51 no? Any lists of games with their type of security?
I assume I have 1.51 because I had updated as soon as 1.5 came out and I should be good for most games

Do any wave 3 games work (e.g hawx etc, anything released after april 09)? Do you check your games with abgx and how do you obtain the .iso's?
Funny thing is abgx checked out fine for both games. I will try CloneCD.
2 more questions
1. I am pretty sure I have 1.51 for my liteon, it is the first firmware for the liteon. There is no 1.50 correct? If that were the case everyone warning of Wave 3 working with 1.51 or above would make my concern valid. Although I think the answer to this ques is already no
2. What's the point of me, as a lite on, upgrading to 1.6. Will I really get banned from live? The only thing I might get banned for is playing wave 3 games because of their new security sector no?
I don't think 1.51 was the first firmware for the Lite-On. 1.4 worked on it as well. You are right that there is no 1.5, though.
If this were my Xbox, I'd run the burned games back through ABGX and check again if they are legit. If that didn't work I'd double check the firmware of the drive. If that didn't work I'd clean the laser. If that didn't work I'd do a POT calibration.
By the way, you're right, there is really no point in updating to 1.6 firmware if you have 1.51.
EDIT: My bad, there was a 1.5, but no v1.5 for Hitachi, if I remember correctly.

iXtreme 1.5 firmware was the first IX firmware available for the Lite-ON drive. ix1.5 does not play wave 3 games.

It is always smart to have the most up to date firmware if you play on XBOX Live. ix1.6 has strict stealth checking so that is always a plus.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/754046 Wow I am a little confused with this. I haven't tinkered around after updating to 1.51 when it was new. But from what I understood 1.51+ could play Wave 3 without problems. That thread says otherwise. It says I must patch the games before I play them. It is not specific as to whether this is offline/online, but I think they initially meant offline.
Also I had emailed my original firmware's .bin, etc files to myself. Is there any program to check what version of firmware I had put on it from my bin files/whether or not it was stealth (I'm pretty sure it was ) since from what I understand you can only play Wave 3 games using unstealth, according to the thread abobe.

iXtreme 1.5 will not play Wave 3 games. iXtreme 1.51 will play Wave 3 games.

You can use Jungle Flasher to check your firmware. That thread was created before iXtreme 1.51 was available and people were too impatient to play games before the release of the firmware.
