Just one thing that I've been wondering: Drivekey is fairly new and I've read that several people are having problems with it. I'd like to know if I'd be able to use a rewritable DVD so I could keep changing games on the same DVD. Should I use DVD+RW or DVD-RW? (which will give less problems?) And what burning software should I use?

And is the Drivekey unstable in anyway? Why are people having problems with it?

It doesn't matter what Modchip you use.

DVD-RW don't work.

The Wii Is very picky (some more than others) about the media. It has been well documented (anecdotally) that rewritables don't work.

I cannot speak to the Drivekey because I use WiiKey and Wiikey2.

So I have to choose between DVD-R and DVD+R...is one any better than the other for this purpose? Is there a name brand that I should stick with for this purpose? And is there any burning software that you would recommend? Or is it all the same?

Also, would you recommend WiiKey over DriveKey? Is one more stable than the other? WiiKey seems a little more complicated though...

Consensus is DVD-R. Some people (including me) have had limited success with DVD+R.

As far as to which Modchip to use depends on your confidence with installation.

I had a cut pins Wii that I had someone else mod. I have modded my last 3 with Wiiclips (no black epoxy) and they went smoothly.

I have chipped a few Wii's (20+) so far and have not had any problem. Alot of the issues that you have here are most probably down to faulty Mod chips and the type of media you are using for your backups. Burned well in excess of 200 back ups and probably have had maybe 2% not work - usually down to the a bad disc or the pc/desk being knocked while burning.

My golden rules:

1. Get quality ISOs plenty of places you can get them - ( use a rapidshare or megashare account - I find torrents are a waste of time as you really dont know what you are getting.)

2. Buy best quality media --- DVD-r ONLY - I use Sony 50DMR47BSP and 50DMR47ASP4's if I am printing the disc afterwards. DO not use DVD-RWs the dye in the disc is different.

3. Do not use Disk Labels on your disks .. they throw the disk of balance when playing.

4. Burn your ISOs using ImgBurn -- its FREE and good.

5. Burn at 4x or as slow as possible - dont be tempted to use the pc for other work while burning.

5. Make sure your disc are totally spotless before you burn them - no scratches or fingerprints on the blank - these will affect the quality of the end product.

THANKS! That's the info I was looking for!
But where exactly can I get these "quality ISOs"?
