I used a 64MB SD card to mod a virgin 4.1U Wii and install BootMii as Boot2. To be safe I wanted to make a backup of the NAND before installing the final piece cIOSCorp 3.1

The NAND is 600MB so I obviously cannot use the 64MB card. So I copied all the contents of that SD card to my PC and transferred it to my 8GB SD Card. I pop in the 8GB SD Card and turn on the Wii and it doesn't boot to BootMii. If this Wii ever bricked and I do not have the original 512MB will I be screwed? How do I get the 8GB to boot BootMii?

Also as an additional question, if BootMii was installed by IOS how does that make a difference? I ask because these memory cards are used for different things so I don't want to screw myself over if I ever format this card when I shouldn't.

Edit: I turned on the Wii with the 64MB inserted and got to the BootMii menu, then I took it out of the Wii and put in the 8GB card and then dumped the NAND. Now in the PC it shows nand.bin as being 0KB. I thought it was a 600MB file, did something screw up?

drag ALL the contents from the 64 to the 8gig. you NEED the files on them to use bootmii, since it was installed on that card, otherwise it'll boot normally.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Make sure the 8GB is formated FAT16 or FAT32. Then drag everything to the 8GB SD Card (particularly the Bootmii folder at the root of the SD Card). If Bootmii will not boot then more then likely there is a compatibility issue with the 8GB SD card.

If you still have issues I would try using a different SD Card. You should defiantly make a NAND backup and it should be 528MB.

Thanks for that info, I used a 512MB memory stick and it boots the Bootmii I formatted the 8GB with FAT32 and no go so I guess I will just have to go out and buy a 1GB or something to make the NAND backup.
