A new Eurovox USB PVR is coming to market soon. I have been fortunate enough to be able to test it. There are still a few bugs but these are been ironed out after each bug report.
I cannot post pictures as the box I have may have cosmetic changes on release and as a result will differ. From a physical point of view its slightly smaller than a Max V. Connections on the back, ( on this test box), are RS232 serial, component and composite. Also USB and two scart connections. Coaxial connections include, cable in, cable out, RF out and TV ant. It also has S/PDIF.
The box clears Nagra 2 also with a fast channel change and picture quality is excellent. I have used an 8GB memory stick for test purposes and both record and pause life TV work perfectly. The INIT, (initiation time) has also been reduced dramatically.
The box also has a PIP function between two and nine pictures. So you can watch nine different channels at a time, ( I get confused enough watching one :) ). The remote is perfect with good response times. The menu itself has all you expect from a PVR with a fully functioning PVR manager. The usual channel manager, installation, factory reset etc are part of the menu. Also MP3 and MPEG formats can be played and viewed via the box.
Looks wise the menu has improved as it has changed to a more intuitive layout. The EPG guide is also fully functional as per all other Eurovox, (though dependent on area ).
As said I cannot post pics now but will do when the final model is agreed. I am also waiting on RRP before posting it.

Ah now they can stop supporting their old boxes, oh wait they already did.
Id never buy any box from the manufactures who abandon there old boxes.

Been a fan of the eurovox for a long time now so this is good news and the PIP is a great addition, my thinking is that this box is aimed at the UK market only or do you think that we in Ireland could get any use out of them what with N3.

Hope the support and backup service is better than that given to the Max V boxes etc. Now we know why the fix for PVR and SL boxes came out last week. Eurovox wont be getting any more of my hard earned Euro.

It does indeed sound like a great box. The nine PIP sounds incredible. But, as a former Eurovox fanboy and like most people from Ireland who've posted before me in this thread, I'm sure I won't be investing in one of these after the N2 fix disappointment/fiasco, along with the unpredictable nature of the forthcoming N3 switch. As said earlier, the British market would be the main target, but aren't they supposed to switching over to something entirely different in the near future? IPTV, is it?
I'd love to get one, but sadly I will not until (hopefully) something happens with the N3 situation. It's not really a great time to be releasing new hardware what with all the recent, and forthcoming changes, IMO.

I will NEVER buy a EUROVOX again.
POOR support written all over it. The way they forgot about their old boxes is really bad on their part. Poor marketing strategy I guess.
Buy the box that has best support like Kryptview.

I will also not be goin the Eurovox route again. Ive no problem spending money on a good box that works well as they these things tend to pay for themselves if you consider the alternative, but... support is everything.

leaving the KV aside for the moment, you can also add the starview 1,starview 2(the box)& starview 3(the box super)to the list of old boxes that have been forgotton about,..it's unfair to single out the eurovox,..infact the EV range now has 4 boxes working on N2 & the starview has 1 working box.

Add Digivox to that list also, the XL wasnt an old box by any means
They have shot themselves in the foot with their updates and the amount of time they have taken,
barge poles and any of them spring to mind

That's all really beside the point, though. We were left waiting 4-5 months for an N2 fix, and no matter how many times over the box has paid for itself, we're all still entitled to have good support for anything we buy. The boxes that aren't being supported aren't really all that old, either. Especially the Max V.

Very true. And Max V 2008 is only last year model, so not that really old either. They released fixes for some models only after 4-5 months, thats NO good.
Avoid EuroVox.
This thread was about Eurovox. There are other boxes which can be avoided as well.

Listen folks, this whole dodgybox game is somewhat of a delboy affair, there illegal to use on your cable system in the first place, it's a bit hypocritical to be complaining about the lack of support,..harvey norman,DID,powercity & the other retail stores offer warranty/support but there a catch,...they don't sell dodgyboxes,...it?s a shady business & therefor anyone selling dodgyboxes or in our case buying dodgyboxes also has the shady label attached to them, no honour among thieves.

True but just like a legit business they are out there to make money and keep their customers happy so they'll come back for more. If one brand ie.Kryptview offers better support than Eurovox then the decision on what box to buy next is easy in my opinion. Legality has nothing to do with it.
Besides I think this thread is gone of the point a bit.

Sancho16 is right this has totally gone off topic, what scOuser has described sounds like an amazing box to own, I mean you can view 9 channels at a time, now that sounds good to me. My only problem is that this is aimed at the UK market only, unless the guys at Eurovox have something up their sleeves regarding N3, so until N3 is rolled out fully in Ireland we will just have to wait and see about buying one or two. Perhaps they will do what Kryptview did (with N2) and release a fix straight away (for N3) and basically flood the Irish market with the only box that will work.

What is this madness watching nine tv channels at once my god this is sheer and utter madness.WHO THE HELL CAN WATCH NINE TV CHANNELS AT ONE TIME.But you no what i bet i be the first to get one when it come s out lol.
If you buy a box you no at the time of buying it it couls stop working within 5 minutes its the gamble and i had mine eurovox for 2 years then got a pvr5000 a year ago,so i carnt grumble we all got more than value for money.
Bring on this new eurovox box let the madness of watching 9 channels at once start he he,thinking about it it be great for world cuo football etc have 2 games on the same time...
Any idea of the price??????

9 channels only if there on the same TP I suspect,..around the same price as the ex1000sl I hear

seems like a bit of a pathetic idea tbh..
knowing that virgin are about to change to N3 & the other 1 for the UK IPTV? or something...
ok, they are upgrading there box's for the customers, so they can have a new product and what not.
but in reality, shudnt they keep this box behind closed doors, iron out ALL bugs & everything, then when the N3 / IPTV comes along, work on a fix, then release it?
i dont know if that makes any sense at all. but at the end of the day this seems like a money making thing, they are doing this to earn money with no thought of the purchasers buying there box?
unless however (which is highly unlikely) they already have something up their sleave (ie. nag 3 fix) then this would be great as new customers would buy the box knowing its nag 3 friendly.
my view is my view, however its up to customers to do what they want..
if my box packed up now. i would buy a second hand one, i wudnt bother buying new untill the new systems are in place. not worth wasting money (although saving on virgin fees) but you get the drift!
anyone expand on this ?

Sorry I have been off for a few days. I expected some negative comments but the whole thread?
I do not sell boxes all I was giving was some info on a new box coming to the market. There are plenty of threads berating the fact that Eurovox are not supporting older models, something I too do not consider to be a good ploy. But thats far from my decision so the comments should have joined the 100s of other bad comments on the Eurovox threads, that are already there.
As I said what I done was give out info. Its not a sales pitch, you choose to buy or not to buy. But as I said I understand.

lol, i dont think the negative comments are nailed against u mate, atleast, mine wasnt.
mine was nailing eurovox for bringing a new box out so close(??) to the nag / iptv changeover...
i think they are completely disragarding the fact that they will be rendered useless as a "Receiver" of such channels.
However!! We must all remember, these box's are to receive Free to Air channels ONLY. By factory default.
Any modifications to the box's (ok, we know that they are the ones that release the mods) is illegal. So they aren't really doing anything wrong? (even though we know what there for lol)
Does anyone have any information / input of this IPTV thing? or is it just hear say?

I wasn't saying that all the negative comments where directed at me. I was saying they have been posted across numerous threads, my one was a review of a new box.
IPTV is more likely to happen in the UK. But it was first muted in 2006 and then dropped in 2007. It raised it's head again this year due to a new STB they tested.
But given the debt Virgin are in I doubt it will be anytime soon for a change of encryption and/or platform.
