i am sorry about this, i have read thread #1 about updating but i am still confused. i originally put homebrew on my wii using the oct. 23 update method and am at 3.2 and have done no updates since that. i want to play wii sports resorts and punch out but realize i need 4.1. i dont want to brick (i do have bootmii as boot2) but still dont want to brick. so i really dont know how to update and keep my homebrew working. i have a usb loader, gamecube loader, and can play backups on disc and still want all of this to work. any help would be nice thanks.

also i forgot to ask should i leave my sd card in or out, or does that even matter.

Do a NAND backup with Bootmii before performing any of the steps below. Doing this will let you restore to your previous state if something goes wrong.

Follow this guide HERE.

You should also make sure you have the latest cIOS38_rev14 installed.
