Hi all first post here in the forums. I have spend almost 3 days looking at the forums here and others but non are conclusive to my problem. I soft modded my Wii so I can backup all my games into my external HDD for easy click and play, so far I back up all my games.

Wii Sports
SSBB
Need for Speed Carbon
Nights: Journey of Dreams
Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles

They all work fine using the GX loader, and Neogamma r6, but one SSBB. The problem seems to happen wen a video try to play I get

"An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button, remove the Game Disc and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information."

example wen I finish "Classic Mode", after the first fight in "Adventure Mode", and wen the if let the intro play after the game loads. I used USB Loader GX, to backup all of my games to my external HDD, and I try several external HDD and Storage usb drives with same results. I also downloded an ISO to see if my dump was bad due to a minor scratch on the disc, same results. Here a "SignCheck",

for some odd reason, i see that using the newer stuff will have problems. i've been using usb loader 1.1s and cIOS38_rev12 eversince rev12 came out, and it's way stable. no pictures or anything, but it's lightweight and run without a SD card. SSBB runs flawlessly for me.

there's a few things you can do:
-rerip from a retail dvd9 SSBB disc
-install cIOS38_rev14
-use older usb loaders (non GX) to rip to hdd

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

it may be slower, because each revision improved the read speeds. i've found that rev13 and rev14 caused nothing but headaches for me. rev12 is completely stable; punch out with rev13/14 would give the 002 error, but rev12 runs it. and i have no need for usb loader GX; a simple list is all i need and usb loader 1.1s is working just fine.

sometimes, the older stuff is the better.

You are right older stuff is better sometimes my daughter has been using the Wii now for a few hour no problem, she did not notice the difference in speed at all I kept USB Loader GX because is easy for her to understand. I don't care much how a game loads as long as it works, I used to work with MSDOS back in the day and still work on linux promps so no problems here after cIOS38_rev12 install.
