E73 1021 error code

I just got the e73 (bottom right rl) error code, the secondary code is 1021. From what I've read, e73 is an ethernet port failure, and 1021 is southbridge problem. But i've read e73 is a type of e74, so there is a 3 year warranty, only problem is it was refurbed by ms for e74 ealier this year, so I'm not sure if it is covered by 3 year warranty. Anyway, my question is will ms cover this (being the douche's they are I guess no), if not, is there a ghetto fix that wiil work.

PS this console is a benq, it would be a shame to see it replaced with an unmoddable liteon.
