Hi there,

wii system version: 3.3E
Status: no softmod/ hardmod of any kind
SD Card: Kingston 1GB

I have a weird problem. My SD card works perfectly in my wii. Formatted as FAT16 or FAT32 my wii can copy to or read from my SD card without any problems (regarding saved files). However when I put all the needed softmod files in the rootdirectoy of the same SD card, as described in THE "new and improved guide", the wii simply doesn't see any files. I made sure the rootdirectory looks exactly like the depicted picture in THE "new and improved guide". It also doesn't prompt me with a question to load anything (boot file). I tried both versions the offline and online guide form wii systems below 4.0.

Before using my SD card I format it completely ( I tried both FAT16 or FAT32). Still my Wii doesn't see any softmod files (boot file). The wii however detects the presence of the SD card correctly yet doesn't see any files.

Can someone please point me in the right directions. I searched the forums already (long time reader, first time poster).

Thx!

You're missing quite an obvious step... you need to be on firmware 4.1, not 3.3.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Ik know I need 4.1, that was the plan obtaining it threw the offline upgrade method.

Could that be the reason why the WII cant see the softmod files at all ?

If your doing the offline upgrade method then why are you using the files from the NEW AND IMPROVED SOFTMOD GUIDE?

If your going to do the offline method then follow the guide on the linked page and use the files they provided for that guide.

Thats because THE new and improved guide contains a decision tree directing you to the offline method guide. That IS the guide I used.

Anyone know why my wii cant read the softmod files ?

You said that your SD Card looked like the image in the NEW AND IMPORVED GUIDE.

They shouldn't look like that image if your using the OFFLINE linked guide.

You will have totlay diffrent files on your SD card.

Thx for your reply. Thats very weird though because the "Offline Downgrade Upgrade.zip" file contains a BAT file that creates a SD card folder which should be placed on the SD card. The content of this folder is excatly the same as the depicted image in THE new and improved guide.

Ok, I updated my system to 4.1 now and using the instructions only from the mainpage.

No difference again. My wii sees only the memory blocks (SD) but doesnt give a pop up ! I placed all the needed softmod files on the SD Card as shown on the piucture.

Please help me out folks!

Are you putting the sd card in AFTER you go into the sd menu, or do you have the sd card in the wii prior to that?

Also make sure you are going to data management CHANNELS not Data management game save.

It seems the private folder was messed up with saved files.

It works now. Case closed . Thx all!
