360 gets 2 red lights after 30secs - 5mins...

i brought my mates 360 off him for £5 earlier, and he said there was a problem with it but didnt say what, (oh well, whats £5? lol)
i have previously flashed it and it was working perfectly.
but now it gets 2 red lights, which i believe is over heating?, after 30 seconds with case on, and 5 minutes with case off.
is this a sign of RROD?
can i use XClamp fix to attemp a repair?

i would just leave the case off and put a fan on it, dont do x-clamp fix unless you absolutuly need to

just a normal desk fan type thing?

agreed,, what if he took the heatsinks off and just put new paste on,, artic silver is the best paste,,clean the surface of the gpu and cpu to a mirror shine and reaply the paste,,that should work good to,,

You didn't just say that...now i gotta use the picture
OP the v2's work pretty well as long as you have efficient heat transfer to the heatsinks. My box has a whisper fan and the v2's and it typically runs 15f above room temp max. Though it is a bit loud.

I usually have the box a little behind the tv and i can't hear it after i start playing. Though i live by an airport and i can't hear the planes that pass over my house either.....

If i were you i would just fix it by using the x clamp fix. go to the website in my signature and you can buy everything you need from the store page there and there is a great guide too. that is just my opinion though

wow,,now you know why it overheats,,yes the heatsinks are on sideways,,its not cooling at all,,drinking canadian beer will do that to you,,,
