i have a 360 that shows the game title when a game is inserted. when i want to play it, it hangs immediately, or it hangs just after the intro screen (ea games logo for ea game, or bandai etc.). it is a ms28 drive. the drive is fine, i tested it (i spoofed the ms28 to work in another xbox (that had a benq drive), and the drive plays games fine. then i spoofed the benq drive (that was a confirmed working dvd drive) to the ms28 xbox, which shows the same problem as with the ms28 drive attached. the dvd key (of the problematic xbox 360 with ms28 drive) is presumed to be fine, since if i change the dvd key i only get play dvd instead of the game title.
so there is something wrong with the xbox itself. did anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? i tried the original ms28 firmware, ixtreme and an original ms28 firmware from another xbox. all is the same.
BTW. it plays dvd movies just fine in the ms28 drive, no strange hanging issues when i play a dvd movie

let me get this straight 2 diff drives, same burnt game, not loading. did you try orignals on those drives? it is either a bad drive or you are using crappy media.

games work fine, drives work fine (i spoofed all combination, and all the drives work fine in the benq xbox. neither of the drives work correctly in the ms28 xbox). i have 5 different medias, verbatim, platinum, philips etc. all games work fine. i don't have any original 360 games... but with all games, 360 (copies) and xbox 1 (both copies and originals), same problem

so you cant get the games to work in the ms-28 xbox, no matter which drive you put in it.

correct!
and the dvd key, which i had to find with a hex editor since jf gave all zeros, is presumed to be correct. some games give me the startup logo (like need for speed). with another key / wrong key, i don't get this far

then it sounds like you have the right key, the only thing i can really think of is that it might be developing RROD, but i would wait for other opinions.

i already replaced the xclamps as a precaution. it wasn't necessary, but i needed the xclamps. so i already put screws in there (also replaced the gpu heatsink with another one)

you should probably tweak with your screws like tightning and untightning them. you could also need a better fan to help cool off your xbox, if that is needed go to http://red360.devhub.com/products

thanks for all the tips, but the xbox is not showing any signs of a rrod. it doesn't need extra cooling and i do not need to fiddle with the screws. that part is just working fine. i had the same problem before i replaced the xclamps / heatsink, so the problem is not related to the xclamp fix / heatsink

Maybe a dodgy sata cable.
