I'm new to all this stuff but my lil nephew has a BenQ drive xbox 360 which has stopped reading disks & makes a funny noise. My cousin has just given me a broken rrod xbox with a Samsung drive I think. Is it possible to just take out the BenQ one & put in the Samsung one?

yes and no. You can't just throw it in there and have it work. You will need to spoof the drive.
