Disc channel won't let me run games - update needed?

I followed everything in the guide for softmodding the wii and another guide on how to run games from the disc channel. However, whenever I try to run the disc channel now it says I need to update my console, even though I am on 4.0E and my game worked fine before on 3.3E. And whenever I go into the systemmenu hacks menu in preloader, nop hacks come up even though there is a hacks.ini file and it is in the root of the SD card. Is there anything I've done wrong? Sorry if it isn't specific enough, my wii is in another room to my PC. Any help wlould be appreciated, thank you :)

Be sure that you have the correct hacks.ini files for your wii. Try also removing the .ini from the file as your wii may read it as hacks.ini.ini. Good luck! Let us know the results.

Ahh that's it! I had the wrong hacks.ini file! I've replaced it and it works fine now thanks!
