Hey all. Sorry about the pics, they're from my PPC phone. This is my very first cosmetic mod. believe it or not, it was done on a camping trip while fishing. I used nothing more than a small hand drill, a coping saw. The DVD drive was done later with a Dremel. Still gotta paint the case, drive cover & fan shroud.
I was thinking of cleaning it up (mostly straightening edges & smoothing the name) since I bought a new Dremel and attachments. But my son says since he has the same initials (EBJ) as me, to leave it as it is, give it to him, and take his case for my next project, seeing as to how I've got some better ideas and better tools. I think I'll take him up on that. But my daughter says I gotta do hers first.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. I thought I was gonna get a lot of negative criticism, probably because it's not finished yet, and I'm not satisfied with it.
C4RN1, I never even saw that thread or I'd have posted the pics there. Yes the hard drive is windowed too, but no LEDs in it yet.
As I said, it's no finished yet, but since it belongs to my son now, he just HAD to get the pictures posted ASAP. I'll post finished pics when completed.

Nice job, what colour are you going to paint the drive and the fan tunnel?

That's interesting, have you ever found a finish that actually looks like chrome? When i had my zx636 i used killer chrome to paint the fairings. Killer chrome is the only finish i've found to actually turn out like chrome, all the rest don't look real. If you buy a paint can with a chrome top and think it's going to come out that way you're completely wrong. All those companies send out the caps to be coated with a chrome finish, it's really sad that they advertise that as the finish and the product doesn't produce it.
Cheapest place to get it is here
http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/alakc-kc-101.html
Just do one light coat of clear if you use killer chrome, too many will make the chrome darken and lose it's realistic finish.
I got the idea from this chromed R1

Check out killer chrome, it's really worth the extra money.

That's a nice bike, is it all painted with killer chrome? I've been looking for a paint to chrome xbox 360 controllers, I will try this out.

I was gonna send the parts out to be actually chrome-plated. But now I'm gonna try this Killer Chrome to save some money. Hope it's as good as you say it is (for $30 a can).
My brother is supposed to send me some snaps of his box that I just "windowed" for him a few days ago. It's not "lighted" yet. I'll post them tonight or tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure its done with the 4 step chrome process, killer chrome will be pretty close to that though.
For controllers you should just buy the xcm controller shell.
llamma sells them for $29.99 http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=73_97

The controllers are made smooth so the chrome is smooth. You would have to sand down a stock controller shell to prep the plastic for the chrome finish. It's easier to just buy the shell.
