I have some backups that are on crappy Memorex DVD+R DLs, which (obviously) are having a tough time reading. One game wont even install to the hard drive - it will stop at 80%. I believe this to be a mix between crappy media and a burning speed which was probably too fast (my friend made these for me, and I know he isn't as picky as I am).
Anyways, I just bought some Verbatims from Singapore, and I was wondering if it was safe to rip the games from the Memorex discs and burn them onto the Verbatims. I will definitely run abgx again to get the layer break, but I just wasn't sure if it's a good idea to do it this way or if it's still going to have trouble playing. I don't have a Kreon drive, so it's kinda hard for me to rip them again, without my friend's CPU.
I did a similar thing. I bought some crappy disk, xbox kept crashing with dirty disk errors and it wouldnt install. I used CloneCD to rip the image, rechecked in ABGX and then burned to decent disks with no issue.
Guys we all know that verbatims are a lot better than memorex. But heres the thing, i have bought like 100 verbatims, and like 50 memorex, I havn't had one coaster period. So if you are looking to save some money by buying memorex, then you need to get a good dvd burner, not some 2000 burner get a new one. Like i said 50+ memorex, not one coaster.
You don't need a Kreon to rip from a burned game. Use ImgBurn, CloneCD, Nero, almost anything, to rip the crappy discs to ISOs. Fix them with ABGX to add the layer break. Burn them to Verbatims with ImgBurn or CloneCD.

Quality of your 360 matters, too. A 360 with a drive that works without questions is more likely to accept those discs than a drive that barely reads original DVDs.
But yeah, I agree. I personally only use Sony DVDs.

Sony's were the first I ever used. They worked great I never got a coaster. I've actually had 3 coasters with verbs but I'm not sure if they're MIS or not. Wish I could find some more sony's somewhere, a 10 pack for 15 was a pretty good deal
