the best FREE guide to fixing e74 error

ya i just got an e74 error and im wondering what the best guide out there is?

when googling the problem, there are a number of 3 red light fixes but since the e74 error is just 1 light, is it a different process?

99% of the time it is an issue with the ANA/HAHA chip and it will need reflowed.

The best free solution would be to send it to Microsoft.

Basically you're putting alot of pressure on the chips with your heatsinks, then heating it up so it resolders (a reflow).

I found the best thing to do was tighten the screws until it almost snapped the mobo/chips and then apply heat, let cool and adjust screws to a 'snug' tension.

alright i just registered my xbox through the repair process on the xbox website..anyway, it said my total came up to $0.00 dollars and then i printed the shipping label

just so i have things straight, do i still have to pay for shipping or since i have the label is it covered?

No, everything is pre-piad. But if your console has been tampered with or the warranty sticker has been cut/removed, they will reject your console.

ya well i baught it i guess "refurbished" on ebay.. i took off the front panel to make sure the sticker was still on it and it was so i just hope its all fine on the insides

Heat gun the warranty sticker and be very careful when opening it up.
