The best there is. The rest suck in comparison--all bloated with trash.

That's true about upgrading, I only got 1.8.3 because my wife accidentally clicked the update button. I also tend to find that when something is done right, *near perfect right* the more shit that gets stuck in a program, the more issues one gets. I'll stick with my current version, but its cool to know that utorrent care about their users.

I did use this a long time ago and the funny thing is i even convinced my friend to move over to this but i found vuze was treating me better than utorrent cause it was not blocking my ports and most things were automatically set and i did not have to bother with them.

However i see that there has been a lot of major upgrades in the new utorrent so i may give it a whirl. :)

At least those were legitimate comments ie reasons for not updating (newest isn't always better or necessary for everybody, after all). Your post however is just whining and is the only comment 'spammed' in this News item :)

I'm personally sticking with 1.8.2 until 2.0 is out of Beta, however i generally update virtually all other programs that i have, whether on Windows or Linux. I have loads of torrents that i don't want (potentially) broken by the Beta which is why i'm not interested in upgrading yet.

Now if you'd have moaned about other people scaremongering about certain versions of UTorrent being compromised by the RIAA or similar then i'd have agreed with you (luckily we haven't yet had any of those usual replies - whilst i don't know whether certain versions are indeed compromised, i have been using 1.8.x versions for years and (touch wood) no problems yet.

You can be sure that there are a bajillion hacker groups going through the uTorrent code every patch and if it WAS compromised, there would be MAJOR rabble for months.

Pretty much I avoided UT1.7 + for years but there is no real problem with it other than they got bought out by BT who was bought out by the media mafia.
