USB Loader GX freezing

I just had my wii softmodded last week by someone. Whenever I use USB loader gx either the app stops responding or when I try to load a game the screen gets dull and the game never loads.

I'm thinking its my external hdd im using because its quite old and its basically a generic. The Nexstar 2 is what its called.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

I don't seem to have issue with the original usb loader 1.5 but I get 002 errors with punchout on that app. If there is a way to fix this I would consider not using usb loader gx anymore.

Sounds Like were having the same probs and I also suspected My hdd I have an enclosure very similar to this generic one

I was wondering if u had tried using a flash drive to install a game to and see if it runs off it, if it did than its the hdd, if it wont run off the flash then it might be something else. I dont have a flash drive or i'd try it.

I have a 2gb sandisk that I think ill try to use. I can load the wii sports and wii play on those at least.

The games dont crash once they start, just the loader itself in all sorts of places but I imagine if the hdd goes to sleep then that could be my problem.

Here is an update. I used my sandisk 2gb flash drive to store some games and despite the incredible slow download speed into the drive the usb loader program no longer froze up at all.

Looks like usb loader doesnt like my external HDD. I'll be purchasing a new one this weekend.

Purchased a new Western Digital My Book 1TB drive. Formatted it in FAT32 and USB LOADER GX has had no problems. Loaded my 13 games on and they all work great.
