I have always burnt my games slow(2.4x) but I am about to upgrade my dvd burner due to its lack of performance(no working correctly, erroring while burning)
So when i get this drive, what should I get? and can I burn at faster speeds without any issue(or what speed is a good max speed to burn?)
I tried test burns at different speeds, then I scanned the burned discs for PIEs/PIFs using Nero CD-DVD Speed (I use Opti Drive Control now). All of the discs I burned worked in the 360 without any problems at all, but the best quality burns were achieved at 8X. That may not be the case for you though, it depends on the media you're using, the burner, and the burner's firmware. It is certainly not the case (and never has been) that 2.4X is always the best speed to burn at, but the only way to know what's the best speed in your case is to do test burns at different speeds.
EDIT - I'd say a large proportion of posts about bad burns/games not working are because people like to cut corners and buy crappy cheap discs, so I would suggest only using Verbatims. You probably do already, but it's worth mentioning.

i have tried 2.4x with verb,,and it always shows dirty disc,,why i dont know,,but if i burn it at 4x with verb or memorex it plays perfect,,hey go with what works,,cheers
