i have usa wii, with a d2c. i dont want to do the hack thing anymore...but i would like to use some wii point and buy some old school games...if i update my wii, thru the system update from the internet on wifi...am i going to get a brick? if i get a semi-brick, can i boot orig. games? or it will still only boot some of the backups i have?

You wont brick it, and original and backup games will still work. You just wont be able to use some homebrew programs like the wad installer.
