I'm following the new and improved Wii softmod guide and I have a question. The guide says (If your firmware is 4.0 or below then update to 4.1 firmware). After reading through all 40 pages of posts, I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to. It seems like everyone is just installing the homebrew channel without updating. I have a virgin Wii 4.0u. Just need to be sure. Thanks ahead of time.

Do you think I would add that part if you shouldn't update to 4.1 firmware?
