Was going to mod my mates xbox for him, he has a hitachi drive (haha sucker!)
anyways, ABGX GUI popped a message up saying its wave 3 and requires 1.51 or later, so if I patch him to that will he be able to play wave 3 games? i thought it was 1.6 min to play wave 3?

Excellent! totally off the topic of this question but dont want to start a new thread, I put a "backup" game in my modded (1.6) xbox tonight and it says an update is required to play the game and without it it wont work. Is that normal and does that mean i need an xbox live account to download the upgrade or just to be on the net?. I don't have any working controllers at the moment to hit A and see what happens.

It will be more than likely be the NXE dashboard update. Even if its not, you will be fine updating.
The majority of games require updates when connecting to live as patches/fixes are released after the game has been out for a while. This is completely normal. I currently still run 1.51 and have no issues.
