I often play call of duty 4 wi my friend and use headsets but i frequently am unable to talk to them or hear them. It just does it for a few seconds then goes back to normal. Is this my connection and will putting my os3 in DMZ solve this.

Whats the make and model of the headset.

Also run a test on speedtest.net and post the results for the download upload and ping here.

i used to get the same thing playing killzone. i switched back to the playstation eye because the headset would hurt my ear after a while

Well your speeds should be ok so long as you don't go into very large rooms, and the headset shouldn't be a problem. The only suggestion I could make would be to take the headset out of high quality mode as I'm fairly sure HQ mode uses more of your upload bandwidth but I haven't tested the theory properly.
