i bought my first wii this week and am going to a friends house this weekend for help soft modding it. the wii currently has 3.4u. my friend lives in the country and only has 56k. we will be following this tut. http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...od-any-wii.html

my question is since i am unable to update during the hack as the tut suggests will it be ok to update before we do any hacks. i would like to upgrade it before i take to his house or will that couse problems. if we do the hack and i them bring it home and update will that couse any probs. also can anybody suggest a external hdd for the wii. i will be runing games for the hdd. thanks for any help

Well if you said you had an LU64 wii in the first place then you wouldn't get post that wouldn't help you.

The link you have linked to doesn't work by the way. So we can't take a look at the link you have provided.

As well I think you need WiFi for the LU64fix. The WAD install option does not work (last time I checked that was the case).
