Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone was familiar with flashing the lite-on dg16d2s without soldering. I created my own serial adapter, but jungleflasher is not agreeing with me. Jungleflasher detects my dvd drive, and it detects my com port, bot the comport's status is "not available." When i try to extract the key, there is an error message: "failed to open com port COM1". I tried switching ports, but it did not work. This is not the new firmware. Any help? Thanks.
Ok. restarted my computer, and it worked. But now I get the "serial data is bad" message. Can't fix it, but i'm going to try to manually add the data. Any other suggestions?

do the hyperterminal test to check your circuitry (use a 1.5 or 3 or 5 volt powersuppply to brush the tx line (=probe) to see if symbols show up). if this fails, then your circuit does not work and you need to rebuild it!
then be absolutely sure you have the tray half way open, or else you will get bad serial data message. i now from experience, took me a week to find that out. just manually eject the tray, that ALWAYS works the first try. well, at least for me(you have your dvd drive open so why do it the hard way with holding the tray back, disconnecting power cable etc.).
then it should work.
BUT, i have rebuild my circuit about 5 times, using all different kind of transistors. i know from experience, that for sure NOT ALL transistors work. only the bc5xx worked for me, all the other ones that i have tried gave me bad serial message! so if all fails, try another transistor that is confirmed to work!
