xbox screeching

ok here goes..ive just been playing cod5 online..when suddenly my xbox went off..the tv looked like it was still on, as the screen was black, i can only presume this..when i turned my box back on my xbox live profile had disappeared and the sound came out like a screeching noise..i turned it off again then back on..slowly after a while the noise disappeared and my profile returned but when i went to play again the sound was intermittent! meaning the music for cod5 was on then off..its probably ur tv i hear u say!..ok i thought of this then got another problem..my headphones woudnt work then they would then they woudnt..the sound is still intermitent and the headphones are still intermitent.i think it must be the xbox because its effecting the headphones as well..by the way i tried fight night rnd4 and that was the same..any ideas?

is your xbox flashed, or normal? I assume you checked all connections? can you give more info?

Have you tried a different cable? It could be that as well. But it does sound like it's coming from the system itself.

check cable first, then tv. it could be possible that it it the box, but you want to make sure it is before you go any further

I'd say it's the disk, I had a similar problem with cod 4.

I think you should just follow what homesick said to do, cause that's the most logical. Because if it wasn't the system, and maybe something else, that would suck!

ok when it happened it seemed like there was a power surge..i did try the taking the hd cable out and trying the original leads but nothing changed and i did try a different game and yet again nothing changed..but whats happened now is that over the next couple of hours since it happened the sound started working properly and my headphones started to work..weird..was just wondering do you reckon it was a power surge that buzzed the xbox or(and im just throwing this out there!) i survived a ban attempt?..lol..either way its started working again..oh and yes it is modded..thanks for the help guys

this is totall out there but could have been that the box got too hot, some of the leads to the sound melted, giving you that noise. or yes it could maybe also be a flux in power. as longs as it works who cares!

guess what after all that...IVE JUST BEEN BANNED!!!! ...oh well you win some you lose some..it says diconnected from xbox live and wont let me sign in on my account...took my daughters xbox down stairs and it signed in..so im pretty sure i got banned..ok next question..i have a 20g hard drive on my box..can i use it on another box without fear of the hard drive being detected and getting banned again?

Are you sure it's banned, what is the z error code? If it is banned you can still use the hdd and the profiles on another xbox.

there is no error code..that is the bit that confuses me..and if there was an error code where wud it show it? bearing in mind i can sign into my account on my 2 daughters xboxs but not mine.as for the hard drive its a bit of a grey area..i know people who have never had a problem transfering there hd to another box but i know people who have been warned by xbox that they cud still be banned as the hd was linked to the banned console..hmmmm..

Yeah I don't think you should have a problem using your HDD on another console. I've been using mine that was from my banned console, and it's still working just fine. When you run the Xbox Live connection test, you need to select "more info" when it fails the test, and I think if you press "Y" (it's been a while since I've done this), it will show the error code status.
Also, now if you select more info, it should just say there that your system (or account) has been banned from Xbox Live.

I think when the connection fails press y (or something like that, i've never been banned). If under the Z error code it says '8015 - 190D' then you are banned.

you will never guess what?..i got back on live this morning! like i said it signed in on my daugters consoles but not mine..and i checked the other boxes on my connection too.so it wasnt the connection(just to explain im hard wired my daughters are wireless.i took there boxes down stairs and they signed in alright.)weird...thanks for the help though guys
