I have a perfectly running hard modded wii that I did twighlight hack to install Beta 9 HBC about a year ago, I updated to 4.0U with Waninko's updater and did the IOS downgrade and IOS60 patcher thing so I could install wads and shove them on the SD card.
I don't want to use a usb loader or anything else, I am quite happy with using the free DVD's I get and the tonne of 2gig SD cards I have to play backups and wiiware games...BUT
I am now getting a little nervous and thought I should backup my NAND just in case, I went to install bootmii with the hackmii download but it stated I can only install as IOS so I cancelled and came out. So can someone give me a little run down on what I should install and in what order to do this...I have a designated SD card I can use just for this purpose so I don't care about format's wipes and storing on the pc etc.
I also read I MUST update to HBC 1.0.3 will this interfere with anything I already do on the wii?
Again, my sole purpose is to backup NAND and be able to restore just in case without disrupting what I already use.
I would let the old version update to 1.0.3 (I am sure you get asked to update all the time). If you have issues after updating then uninstall the Homebrew Channel then reinstall it using Bannerbomb.
Install Bootmii as an IOS and backup your NAND. You can not restore it at this time but you never know what might become available in the future.
Install preloader .29 which will protect from some bricks not all. This is better then nothing.
I just updated and everything seems to be exactly as is (not tried installing a wad yet though), I installed Bootmii as IOS and did a backup of the nand to a fresh SD card. 1 bad block showed which I presume is pretty good.
I am now going to install preloader to my regular SD card along with all the other games and apps etc and shove the NAND one in a safe place.

I doubt it bud, never heard of it, apart from HBC all I have done is as I said above, 4.0u update then the downgrader and IOS60 patcher to allow me to move my wiiware games to SD.
I think I may know what has happened. I did the downgrader and installed cIOS36 rev 13b a while back....recently I updated with Sports Resort....will this have replaced and I have no cIOS now?
Will I have to run the downgrade and no cIOS fix again? if so will Sports Resort keep asking to update etc?
