I have a Lite on and I successfully extracted the bins using Jungleflasher. However, during the erase process, Jungleflasher failed and Jungleflasher no longer sees my Lite on.
When that occurred, I tried using DosFlash32, but it does not find my drive either. I think my Lite-on is locked? So I searched for more answers and discovered maybe I can flash in Ms Dos.

First off, my computer does not support USB bootable drives. I think the next step that I can do to try flashing my Lite-on is by using DosFlash16 by using a bootable CD with my modified bin. I have googled for any info on how to create a bootable CD with a modified bin, but have been unsuccessful. I found Bart's PE and other MS Dos bootable CDs, but I can't add DosFlash16 or my bin. Can anyone please provide input on how I can flash my drive using a bootable CD through MS Dos? Or is there another method out there that you may have?

I know there is Frosty's bootable CD that was out but I have never used it. Can you boot to a floppy disc with DosFlash?

In addition to not being able to boot from USB, I also have no floppy drive on my computer. I feel like I'm at a dead end.

Its either I boot from CD with my required files (modified bin, DosFlash16) or use an entirely different method that I am not aware of.

Am I at a dead end? Whereas I should find another computer in order to try booting up from USB? Or is my Lite-on broken, which is why I can't see it in Jungleflasher and DosFlash32 (although I did extract and spoof by utilizing JF previously)?

All you need to do is flash the firmware back to the Lite-ON. I forgot to mention, even though JF doesn't recognize your Lite-ON, you can still gain access to the flash chip. Connect the Lite-ON to the same SATA port you have been using, click Lite-ON erase, click OK on the 2 boxs, and power cycle the drive when you see the dots go across. You should get staus 0x72 and should be able to write the custom firmware at that point.

With your mention of the flash chip, I recall that when I used DosFlash32, it said that "no flash chip set detected" (something along that description).

I am currently at work so I can't try your answer yet, but based on my paragraph above regarding DosFlash32, do you think your method will still work in JF?

I'm not quite for sure about the DosFlash. What mode did you have it in?

Anyways, when you get home, give the steps I mentioned for JF a shot.

Usually when that happens lite-on I just go to the right port using jungleflasher and it says no drive detected, then even though it says no drive detected I press intro / device id then it changes to drive in vendor mode and it's suddenly flashable.

If you try that don't power on your drive until you press intro / device id then when it asks to resand command press yes.

Remove the VIA driver:

1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager.
2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and remove "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys".
3. Re-enable VIA card in Device Manager.
4. Re-Boot PC.

I have the same problem, with the new 83850 liteon. Was trying to extract the key with JF, now its not recognized by JF or dosflash32. The power light on my xbox is just flashing green. What do i need to do to fix this? I never got a key from it, so im nervous that if i do try and flash it it will blow away the drive. I have been looking for a boot cd, but what do i need to do to get my liteon back to normal? I should add that my xbox powers up to the dashboard fine, but says "opening tray" or soemthing like that, and the dvd drive is unresponse to the eject button. Ive done Benq's a bunch of times, but this liteon has me beat.

So the Lite-ON doesn't eject now? What all have you tried when trying to get the DVDkey?

Now that my drive doesnt show in JF or dos32, i dont know what to do to get my key. I have a usb floppy drive, maybe i can throw dos16 on that? But what else would i have to put on the floppy to read my key? Would it be better to use ntfs4dos cd? Kinda stuck, i really dont want to send my box back and try and exchange it, i am sure this can be fixed, just dont knwo how.

thanks man

Well if your drive is unresponsive (not ejecting), that is usually a sign of no firmware. I was just wanting to know what all you have tried to do to get the key.

This just happened to me recently and it was because while pulling the power cable from the back of the dvd drive, I accidentaly pulled it a little bit from the motherboard, whereas the drive would still have power, but not enough power. SO it kept giving me the blinking light and the drive wouldn't open. Pushed the cable all the way in on the motherboard and that was it. Hope this was your problem, because I was going NUTS for half an hour and the console's owner staring at me the whole time.

Unfortunately your drive is bricked. The only way to put firmware back on the drive is to desolder the TSOP chip and re-program it with an external programmer.
