ok ive installed bootmii as boot 2. i use a 32 mb sd before i foundout that it wasnt going to cut it but it worked. the boot mii screen came up and everything before the wii started. so i went and got another 1g sd to retry and back up my wii... but when i went to go turn off the wii and turn it back on with the 1g sd card it didnt work... so i went and grabed the to small sd card used it to get the bootmii screen to pop up and then i swaped the sd cards out so i then had the 1g in and then i backed up my wii... so i guess my question is why wouldnt my sd card pull up boot mii??

i have the sd formatted as fat32

its a kodak high speed sd 1g and says below all of that 60x speed

and last question that just came to me. i was lookign at the screen as i was backing up my wii and i had black squares here and there (6 of them so far and its 3/4 the way done). is this bad common or what??

When you installed BootMii, it also wrote some files to your sd card that are required for BootMii to start. If you did not transfer those files to your 1G card before starting your Wii, it will do a normal boot to the system menu.

no after i got the 1g card i redid the whole process and did the options to set it up for bootmii.

i just also tried my 4g micro in a sd adapter. (its my main wii sd) and when i first tried with my 1g kodack the screen would just freeze and stay black if i went to turn it on. but with my 4g micro it doesnt even do that. it just goes right ahead to the wii screen where it gives you warnign and tells you to click the A button.

i think (and hope) that if i ever needed to restore my wii i could just plug in my 32 mega bite card to get the bootmii runnign then swap to my 1g so that i can then use my back up for my wii.

so what should i do??

When you installed Bootmii as Boot2 it places a Bootmii folder at the root of the SD Card. You need to have the Bootmii folder at the root of the SD Card to have Bootmii boot.

So transfer the Bootmii folder at the root of your 32MG SD Card to the 1GB SD card and it should then boot the Bootmii menu.

The SD card adapter might not be compatible with the Wii or Bootmii so you might as well forget trying to use it.

ive done that ( transfere files from 32 mg to the 1g) it didnt work either. and yes the sd adapter is compatible with the wii because it is my main sd card for it. all my hack stuff is on my 4g micro in the sd adapter. but it may not work with bootmii but i dont see why it wouldnt when it works for the wii.

If you transferred all the files from the 32MB card to the 1GB card and it still doesn't work, it may just be that the card is incompatible. Try another sd card, or you can try and install the latest version of BootMii (0.3), it claims to have compatibility with more sd cards.
