Ok so I have a DLink Router (WBR-1310), and it has worked just fine for me up until about a month ago. I have tried just about everything to get this working. I am having problems keeping it online. Also there are a lot of instances where I will sign on to my PS3 and then a few minutes later sign on with Laptop, and the connection will kick both off. Also, I can be playing fine online, and then the PS3 will just go down.
Here are my current settings:
PC:
IP Address: 192.168.0.105 (currently set as static)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1
PS3:
IP Address: 192.168.0.105 (currently set as static)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1
I also am using WEP Key, have a strong signal, and media server is disabled.
Well you're saying that both have a static IP address of 192.168.0.105? That's probably the problem. If they both have a 105 that's why it will kick both off when connecting to the net. If you are gonna have a static IP they can't be the same. Change one of them to something else. Just the last number on the IP (105).
Sorry, that was my fault. The actual settings for the PS3 are:
PS3:
IP Address: 192.168.0.106 (currently set as static)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1
I would look more at the router or service provider since both are getting kicked off. The Media server can kick the other off line but you say that you have that disabled. Have you tried bypassing the router. You will only be able to use one thing but if the device does not get kicked off; you would know that it was the router that was causing the problem.
I am assuming that when you say bypass the router to just have a connection from the modem. I can try this, may have to run some cable across the house, but the Internet Service Provider (Charter) hs checked everything and stated things are fine. I also recently picked up a new modem. Any other setting I should look at? I recently made the PS3 in DMZ. Would this help?
To the Modem is what i ment. I saw that you had the PS3 using wireless. Just try your PC connected to the Modem for an extended duration and see if it ever gets kicked off. It sounded like you PC was getting kicked off sometimes when not using the PS3. I am not in a DMZ but I do use Port Forwarding. I was not getting kicked off of the net but i was loosing connection with game servers. After port forwarding, everything is good.
Also, make sure you have the latest update for the PS3. I remember my system was always having issues staying connected to the net, so after updating the firmware on my PS3, and also on my Router and Modem, I haven't had problems.
