I'm thinking that a few years back when it wasn't safe to get on Xbox Live with a modded drive, this product would have worked. But nowadays I see it as too little, too late.

Xecuter xDrive 360

I think it's probably intended for the chumps who are just now thinking about getting into modding. If it's the first thing they see, some might bite.

So wait.. it still runs through the same console so the console will still get banned if there is a ban wave.

The only usefulness out of this is that you don't have to open it to flash the drive? I think.

Extremely pointless

OMFG I had this exact same idea, i posted it a month back http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/780570

I guess the only good thing is your internal drive will still be fresh and not worn out.

I don't get it. If I fry my internal drive, how much does it cost me to buy a new one? Under $40 on ebay for sure. This is lame.

NukeEgg's idea was a little different, he wanted to hack the hd dvd player to play games (which is impossible). I came up with the idea to use that blaster 360 style sata mod to switch between drives.

Now if they could make it so you could mod this and plug it straight into the USB, without ever opening your 360.. That'd be a entirely different story. Imagine being able to have a portable mod that would work for your friend's unmodded xBox.

Of course, it'd be even better explaining to your friend's why they all got banned after only playing one night of backups. haha

Unfortunately, a portable mod that would work on multiple consoles is impossible ... since each 360 contains a unique DVD drive-to-motherboard key.

This little doo-hickey was developed solely for the purpose of switching between a flashed and unflashed drive in the same console requiring the same key.

As far as modding a DVD drive to work via USB ... that's a whole other impossibility in itself.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

The only way I can see this useful ..is if the price is right. Then I suppose you could use this because you could keep your xbox under warantee, thats about the only reason i can see.

You'd still have to open your console to attach it. This doesn't work via USB or something, you might even have to modify your 360's case. The warranty would be gone.

The sata cord will probably come out the top near the hard drive, like the blaster 360.

Why... Just why?

You have to open your case to install that anyway... So if you are wanted to get that to try and save your warranty or you are scared to open your 360, you are still out of luck.

It's pointless! It is going to take up alot of room and... GAH! It is just pointless. Team-Xecuter has made some pretty cool stuff but most of it is pointless. Also, knowing Team-Xecuter and their prices, this thing will probably close to $60... And that's not counting buying a second DVD drive to install in the external case. PLUS! If you have never flashed a 360 before and you have a Lite-On, you are going to have to buy some type of Kit/Probe which will be $40+

So, you are spending almost $150 on something that is pointless. You can but a cheap Kit/Probe for about $30 or so and get the job done. If you are worrying about the life of your DVD Drive... Just buy a 120GB HDD or make one yourself using a 120GB WD Scorpio and install all your games to your HDD.

To sum it all up... Waste of money that will take up space and end up causing more problems that a normal flash, and you still have to take apart your 360.

Also, would it not be cheaper to take the 360 HD-DVD drive casing and put a 360 drive in that, then make yourself a homemade setup to switch between SATA cables?

Either way you do it, it is still pointless.

Like my ingenious plan:

I could see the argument being able that it would be good to have an external drive with modified firmware and just keep the original drive stock. Even though you have to open up the 360 just the same way the first time, you never will have to again. That way you can really do a good job with the case and still cover warranty in case anything ever happens to it. In that same vein, if you did have to do a sendback for warranty, you wouldn't have to reflash the drive. You would still have to take it apart again, however.

Still though, over the course of two years, you could potentially eliminate maybe 4 case openings at the rate of 2 new firmwares per year. That's 4 fewer opportunities to mess up your 360.

Also, it gets style points for its geek factor. +10

I wouldn't put the drive the way they put it on the 2nd picture because it covers vent holes and I wouldn't put it the way they put it on the 3rd picture because that thing also releases heat. It's useless and in the worst case could rrod your 360.
