IE Slow When Running Bitlord

Hi
I have just only over the last week or so been experiencing extremely slow internet connection whilst Bitlord is running. This happens with both IE7 and Firefox. I tried upgrading to IE8 but nothing changed. Pages take ages to load and it's getting to be a real pain. Before this I never experienced this problem. After I close Bitlord pages load as quickly as they should.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 in conjunction with Zone Alarm and Spybot Search and Destroy, and always have been so I know it worked OK with these running.
Any ideas or info would be gratefully received.

I am not certain as this suddenly happened, but that usually is due to either BitLord using too much of your upload bandwidth or too many open connections from BitLord clogging up a router/modem.
Upload should be capped in any bittorrent client at 80% of your internet connection's upload capacity.
Depending on the router/modem (if you have one) max global connections may have to be capped.
BTW, BitLord is an outdated bittorrent client as it has not been updated in quite some time. It is based on an old, and buggy, BitComet code.

Thank you. Capping max global connections to 50 seems to have done the trick.
I must disagree about Bitlord, though. I had a lot of trouble with uTorrent in the past and Vuze is not very good either. However, if anyone has any good tips for these I may try them again.

Out of curiosity, what modem or router do you have?
What issues did you have with uTorrent?

I'm using a Belkin Mimo system. Again, never had any problems with it.
uTorrent would never go above 30kb/s total between any number of tasks. I find Bitlord can go up to 700kb/s at any given time.

As far as I know, the Belkin Mimo is not usually a problem for bittorrent clients. That and the fact that you were not having issues with it before, implies you may need a firmware update for it.
Interesting on the uTorrent/BitLord situation for you. I recently tested 19 bittorrent clients on thirty test torrents and uTorrent was one of the best and BitLord tested the worst.
Did you make any changes to the default settings of uTorrent, such as capping upload?

I did, but it made no difference. I actually kept all the same settings as with Bitlord at the time and it was far far slower. As I said, maybe I'll give it another go. I've got one outstanding task at the moment so I'll hang on for that to finish.

web pages slow to load??.. cut your upload speed.. network is saturated.. it's that simple.
Nice to see people using hopelessly outdated and insecure software despite all the warnings... enjoy your malware XD

Either this is spam or you haven't read the thread. I have no Malware issues, in fact I'm on top of that particular problem! In either case, go away!

My pointing out that BitLord is based on an old BitComet code and has not been updated was about the fact that it is missing some features that should help download speed (DHT/PEX).

There are no security issues that I know of with BitLord

If it is working better than uTorrent for you, there is no reason to switch. I found that uTorrent (or Halite/Vuze/BitComet) performed much better, especially on small swarm torrents (most likely due to finding additional seeds/peers through DHT/PEX) than BitLord. But computers and programs can be strange at times and produce different results for different people.

Indeed, I've just d/l something from Mininova, 174MB AVI and it was down in 4 minutes. D/l speed was on average 600kb/s. I'll stick with this for now.
