Just wondered what the UK members think of the price difference, US $299, about £180, UK £250.

Well i waited to buy a PS3 but thats made up my mind, back to the old 360, even with the failure rate.

What does what your country having to pay for something have to do with the US rates? How do you know it isn't related to International Relations? What if it where reversed? Would you complain then? Because there are MANY items that you have access to for better prices over what us Americans do....it's all in how you look at it and not just for "face value" so to say.

Rip off Britain always here to help (you empty your wallet). It;s how its always been, tbh I would have prefered Sony to keep the current price and add the emotion chip back into the console along with memory card slots.

A new variation of the console and still no PS2 BC, sure I could use my PS2 but its more convenient only having to have one console on the table.

And no linux support in the slim, but it does have the bravadia sync, cos Sony knows we all bought one of Sony's bravadia TVs.

Sony announced that the official world wide price would be $299 at it's release, my point was that sony can produce the PS3 and still make a profit at a far lower price, as seen in the US, just a comparison.

Many people i talked to in the shops advertising the PS3 Slim pre-orders had similar views on EU pricing, just wondered what others thought.

Yea Bigo93 , i didn't mention Rip Off Britain in my first reply, don't think he's from the uk so he wouldn't know about that.

I talked to a guy from, or works for amazon uk, he said all the retailers had agreed to sell it at that price and not under cut each other to keep the profit margin up, so yea another case of rip off Britain, may be to cover any loss from not being able to sell the fat ones.

But i'm just whinging, i wouldn't get another 360, I'll end up getting one, just hope theres no design prob's.

Something i just read:

"In Japan, Sony's got Microsoft by over two million units. In Europe, they're only behind by roughly a million units. Their weak spot's the US, where they're down by nearly nine million units. To catch up to Microsoft by this time next year, they'd need to sell roughly 750,000 units a month on top of breakeven monthly unit sales with the Xbox 360. Obviously not going to happen. But whether we see Microsoft's lead dwindle or grow at this point really depends on consumer reactions to a $300 Xbox 360 Elite. If Microsoft antes up (as expected)"

Sales must be low in Australia to.

The US and Asia are always loved by Sony.

Europe just gets pushed aside. At least we got 50% of the US/Jap stuff at Gamescom.

We're lucky to get a £50 price drop.
