Paid to have it done, had no other choice with me being a mac user. And I probably would have mucked it up.
Anyway once its done I know I have to research a few things and so far Im confident I should be able to burn my own games and make sure they are stealthed.
Few questions I would be grateful if someone could answer,
1. If I play an original game online can I be detected, do microsoft detect the hardware or the blank dvd
2. I presume I am ok to play an unpatched game offline
3. Ive read I will be banned eventually using stealth games, why this is. Why does a patched game not work forever.
4. Is upgrading the firmware easy, do I have to open it up, do I need windows.
5. What can I do with a flashed 360 besides playing backups.

Who knows? We don't know for sure how M$ detects mods.

Whoever flashed it for you should have put 1.6 or 1.51 on your drive, meaning your games don't need to be patched. But oline or offline doesn't matter. you'll still be "flagged" for a bad game.

Back to answer #1. If for example M$ detects the altered firmware, then it won't matter if your games are stealthed, patched, originals, or whatever. the firmware will ban you.

You can play originals.
You can play DVDs.
You can stream video.
You can play music.
You can view pictures.
You can download from Marketplace.
Oh wait, you could do all that before flashing. Nevermind.

Thanks for the answers. I have the new 360 with 256mb built in memory. I presume thats the jasper and by the looks of the drive it was a benq so I should be getting 1.6
Youve kind of put me off using a flashed xbox. I dont know what I'll do if Im banned from xbox live. Fifa 10 is coming out as I said to myself, £40 for the game or £30 to get it flashed and get all the games for free.
How many people are getting banned, Ive noticed a few 360's on ebay that are banned. I take it theres no way round the ban, i.e. tell microsoft you bought the console second hand and the guy didnt tell you....
One more question, new games being released, i.e fifa 10, is it wise to play these on a flashed 360 from the release. Is it best to wait a while.

Seriously, you shouldn't worry about being banned. Usually boxes on ebay that have been banned, have been banned because of "neglect" in some form. Such as games not being verified with ABGX. Also a lot of banned boxes were running older firmware, which was "unsecure" so to speak, unlike iXtreme 1.6.
1. Make sure iXtreme 1.6 is on your 360.
2. Be sure to use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs (Singapore made).
3. Verify you ISOs with ABGX360 BEFORE burning.
4. Burn SLOWLY.
5. All will be well.

Yeah Ive got all that. Ive been recommended to use iburn. What about osx360. I was also told burning games on the mac is far easier than windows. Do you agree.
I will not be copying them, just downloading the games from torrent sites as I can download pretty fast.
Just one more question, when I download games, are they all prepatched, then I just run them through abgx, burn and thats it.
So I definitely cannot turn the firmware off in any way.

All you have to do is click on the .DVD file, so no.. it isn't easier on a Mac.

Use ABGX to verify the rips. No way to turn the firmware off.

Flashed 360 with 1.6 firmware will be here tomorrow according to the courier. Ive went ahead and burned 3 games today, one of them the verification failed, it told me to go to level 3 and it fixed it.
All three games were stealth passed and verified successfully. I opened up iburn and selected the image file, it requested me to patch the file before burning so I did so. I burned at lowest speed 2.4x with a DL Verbatim disk. It burned successfully.
So is this fine, will the game play ok and have best protection for playing online.

If you selected the .dvd file to set the layer break otherwise it will spin up, slow down, and say unreadable.

I dont understand. When I opened abgx I loaded the iso file and when I burned with iburn I used the iso file.
Should I be using the dvd file.

yea, the dvd file tells the burning program when to stop burning layer 0 and move on to layer 1. This is very important, without the correct layer break you are burning nothing but coasters

The .dvd will burn the .iso but the .dvd tells it the layer break, if the .dvd has the same name as an iso it selects that .iso. It basically just says
game.iso
layer break=1913760
That makes the game burn properly.
Edit: abgx actually creates a .dvd file to burn and as far as I know imgburn is smart enough to say: "you should've selected the .dvd file, i'll do it for you this time but don't do it again".

Im using a mac and Ive just downloaded another burning application called osx360. When I load the iso using this app, the information about the iso says stealth checks failed.
Any ideas....

If you load the dvd does it fail (the iso and dvd must be in the same folder)

Yea they are in the same folder. The 360 will not be here until tomorrow, just thought Id burn a few games today as they do take quite a while.
Will post back in the morning if the game plays but what Ive done, verify with abgx and burn with iburn, is this everything I need to do to make sure I go undetected online.

If it passed abgx you should be ok, if the game doesn't boot it's the layer break but it might have been set by iburn. Only way to see if you made coasters is wait until your 360 arrives tomorrow.

Ive burned 4 games and only 1 game plays. The other 3 it says unreadable disc.......

If you are using anything other than Verbaitim branded discs, then this thread will be closed.
If you are using another brand. Search through this forum there was about 4 different disc threads.

No Im using verbatim disks and they are + not -
Going to try again, have to get more disks.
I have no 360 hdd. I have just downloaded fifa 10 demo, its 906mb in size. Can I just burn this to a 4.7 verbatim dvd-r and play it as normal.
