Hi all,

Just a quick newbie question, I have the latest firmware & I was wondering if I am able to save my progress before the game gets released or am I better off waiting till after the release date ?

Many thanks

If you have put the disc in and already played the game then you might as well go ahead and save it..

if not it's always a good idea to not play before release

Thanks for that, whenever I play a prereleased game, I always remove the ethernet cable & don't allow for my profile to be signed in.

That's what I figured too ^

It doesn't matter if you remove the cable and don't sign in.

You should never play any prerelease games. It doesn't matter if you are plugged in or signed out. There is a files that is sent to M$ with every game you play. Once you are flagged, the ban hammer will get you. I know lots of people were banned for playing Halo 3 before the release date. They did not play on Xbox Live at all.

that's a common theory that the modding community has accepted. the only opposite to that is the people who "claim" to play every title before release date and haven't been banned.

My son plays practically every "big" game before it's release date and hasn't been banned.

I am sure there are many who have been playing backups and prereleases since day one and have not been banned. My kid is one of them!

What really gets people banned is using questionable source material. If you do things the smart way, it is more difficult for them to ban you. However, playing pre-releases is inherently dangerous because you can't know for sure if what you are getting is what they say it is until there is an official release.
