I bought a 360 Xtractor pro to flash my liteon drive.
I've never flashed a 360 before and I heard the liteon is the hardest.
my ? is do I need to have a 360 xtractor spear as well? I have try using Xtractor reader and Jungle flasher and I cant extract key.
Xtractor reader gives me a error sending atapi Inquiry(timeout)
After doing this 4 times it adds check connections and retry.

Jungle Flasher pressing on (Dummy from Ixtreme) gives me Ixtreme dvdkey extraction Failed power drive with tray half open.
I already have the tray half open.

Pressing Get key, create Dummy bin, open as source gives me.
Warning serial Data is Bad.
I dont know what else to do besides buying the Spear. I have spent about 12 hours on this and I am getting very frustrated please help!

To the best of my knowledge you do need the spear unless there has been another method developed. I built my own spear and have had zero problems. I don't use JF (due to my PC's inability to run it) I use DosFlash32. You can get everything you need for the homemade spear at Radio Shack for less than $15. The thread for making the homemade spear is a sticky.

Your going to need the spear, I bought mine with the Xtractor and it was only another 10$

My Liteon was the first drive I flashed also and it really isn't any "harder" all I had to do differently was stick a needle in a hole and click read..the spear even lights up bright blue when you put it in the right hole. (ha...)

The reason your getting all those errors is because you haven't read the drive's key yet. This is what the spear allows you to do.

Wileycb and Whaevr thanks to both of you 4 answering my question.
I wanted to make sure before I bought the spear.
althogh I will take a look at both options buying it and making my own.
I like the idea of making my own to save time and not have to wait.
if is not to hard I might get working on it later today.
once again Thanks Guys!

hey there I'm having a similar problem with me liteon, I'm getting "Ixtreme dvdkey extraction Failed power drive with tray half open" when I try to read teh key. I'm using This CK kit and I just don't know why it's not registering the drive as being half open. I've tried opening it manually with the slider and using the 360 to power it open and then disconnecting the power when it closes and it's just not registering as being half open. I'm wondering if maybe there's just a problem with the ck kit? any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

If the drive has Stock firmware, you are pressing the wrong button. Make sure you are using Jungle Flasher 0.1.66. Connect your Lite-ON drive and start up Jungle Flasher. Go to DVDkey32 tab and make sure your Lite-ON is detected (PLDS DG-16D2S). Then eject the drive, shut it off, push the tray in half way, and turn the power back on. Make sure you have the right COM port selected then flip the drive over and probe the R707 hole. This is where you need to click the button DVDKey32. It will extract 6 times and then prompt you to save the Key, Inquiry, Identify, and Dummy.bin.

As another note, have they checked what Lite-On they are trying to flash?

With reply to the first post. I would pay the £/$ and just buy a spear. Unless you really know what you're doing it's just not worth the hassle
