What do ya all think? Everything you hoped for?

I think personally it's pretty good, not spectacular like I was hoping...
...the battles are too easy (when the thugs are unarmed) and the boss fights are pretty easy too, the only thing that keeps me from running through the game is the confusing level structure and just figuring out where to go next...
...on the positive though,I will say sneaking around silently killing guys (who are armed, as those fights are a lot harder) is pretty fucking cool...
...and the joker all in all is great, totally adds to the atmosphere....and flying around in the shadows and hearing the armed thugs say "I lost him, I lost him!" is pretty rad....

I still haven't fought Killer croc yet, but I could agree with game informer that said this is this years Bioshock, probably not as spectacular as Bioshock, but damn close....I'd give it a 8.5-10 or 9-10...

At least Batman FINALLY got the quality videogame he deserved...

Thank god they didn't rush this one out last summer to bank off of the movie. It's hard to think of the last few comic book hero titles that are worth playing. Wolverine: Origins, Ultimate Alliance (or even X-Men Legends for that matter), and even The Darkness. Correct me if i'm missing any??

I think this game's pretty good. Great storyline, cool characters, interesting levels. And the sneaking around element is fun. I did have more fun with Wolverine though.
And yeah... its super frustrating not knowing where to go. They should have put in a hint system or something along those lines.
Worth renting at the least.

@MReprogle : You hit em all, and I actually think of the ones you listed I enjoyed The Darkness the most, it was really engrossing for me for some reason.

@bigsjohn : I agree and think they purposely decided to exclude a hint system because you could probably run through the game in one sitting.

Side note....I have to add, the first Scarecrow encounter was pretty damn creative, and a really cool way to break up the pacing of the game.

Speaking of "Good" videos games that have come out based on the comic book or Movie, let's talk about the "Bad" videos games. My number one is G.I. Joe, this fucking suck balls big time, just like the movie itself. But the funny thing about this is my youngest Son loves this game.

Wolverine, totally Rocks, it seems that the designers of Batman: Arkahm Asylum used the same game engine to produce the look and movements are pretty kewl.

hint system? what are you looking for? when you pull up the map is that big rippling yellow circle not good enough for where you're suppose to go next. do you want an onscreen arrow?

as for the riddles... each area has a map which tells you were things are. helps locate the riddles and a good idea if you ask me.

i think the game is bad ass. good mix between stealth and combat. the combat is easy yet deep. you can do well just using x and y but to get the combo meter up it takes alot more than that. batarang, speacial combos and critical hits.

my one gripe is that the voice acting of batman really sounds like they're using sound bites at the press of a button. not very fluid.

No you're right there is the map, it's so standard in games that I forgot about it. A few things to just give a friendly rebuttal:
- If you're going to make it clear as day to which direction I need to go in, is a mini-map so much to ask?
I mean my problem is having to constantly go in and out of screens to look at the map, see what direction I'm facing, look at the map again, then head off...If I get hit by a thug, or turned a different direction...well what do you know, I have to play the map game again...Yawn....
- Regardless of any map, mini-map, or "onscreen arrow" the levels ALL look the same, this is obviously because it's a prison but it was part of my reasoning in stating slight confusion. And regardless I still think the developers purposely didn't put in a mini-map or "onscreen arrow" because the user would fly through the game.

I will agree though with you, the fighting system is pretty solid, simple, but solid, not a whole lot more you can ask...though I do feel it leans a bit towards button smashing. Just my 2 cents...

At the end of the day we'll all have our likes and dis-likes and it's by no means a failure, or even mediocre, it's definitely a great game.

now i see what you're saying. a minimap would be good as i do find myself opening to the map alot. or at least the choice to have a mimimap toggled on or off. it hasn't hampered me too much though cause i'm always looking for the hidden items so i go to the map alot anyways.

but you're point could be valid... it might help so you don't fly through the game. i'm playing on medium so i'm curious to what hard mode would bring to the table.

Why the hell can't Spider-Man come out with a decent game that is this dark? I'm sure that anyone who has actually read a Spider-Man comic has found that it's a lot darker than the movie, and many parts aren't made for kids. The movie version of Venom was such a joke compared to how badass he is supposed to be! If it were my choosing, i'd make a Spider-man movie with Carnage in it, and make it as scary and lifelike as possible with a PG-13 tag on it. Even The Dark Knight's portrayal of The Joker was a little disturbing, which is why it was so incredible. I guess I just like the thought of giving kids nightmares?? haha

I may have to check that out. I played it a little bit on the ole PS2, and never really got into it too much. I guess I just don't like their portrayal of Spider-Man in the Ultimate Spider-Man series. He's too much of a kid IMO, but I may have to try it out again.

No smarty pants, I wasn't talking about an onscreen arrow. And yes "that big rippling yellow circle" does come in handy. I was thinking more of actual hints.
For example, right now I am at the part where you drop the chandelier through the floor and have to continue to look for the Doctor's papers. I can't find them. If there was a hint in the doctors bio like "she's known to love soda pop" then I might go look by a vending machine. Instead I get to wonder around, back and forth, not knowing if I just missed a door or something stupid like that or if this is another puzzle.
Obviously I don't want it to be too easy, but I don't want it to be frustrating either.

I love the game, I beat it in 3 days, probubly 30 hours worth of gaming as it took me forever to find all the riddles, only problem im having is the FINAL one is 3 teeth that I think I missed my chance to find.

Anywhoo, the game is great, best adaptation of a comic/cartoon, yeah the boss battles arent EPIC its just the overall game is great. If not for the riddles the game would be boring, cuase they make u think.

The game is open ended so you can go back n forth like Bioshock, if the game was on rails, it would not be good. As you upgrade weapons youll be able to go back to old areas to find stuff as they were blocks or too high etc.

i know where you're at and all i gotta say is your detective bat vision leads your straight to where you need to go every time. it's not misleading at all. just follow the bright glowing yellow things to the end and voila... it's there. if you still can't find where you're suppose to go pm me and i'll tell you where it is so that we don't put out any *spoilers* that people don't wanna read.

I spent practically 90% of my tiem in Detective mode, once you find teh ridler cheat manp everything is cake.

TBH I am trying to make this game as hard on myself as possible. I'm doing a limited detective mode run and I am not allowed to look at the map unless absolutely required.

So far so good.. (No I didn't even use it to follow the scent of alcohol/tobacco)

that was my one complaint is that i spent most of my time in detective mode too so i couldn't enjoy how great the game looked.

definitely. on normal difficulty it took me about 12 hours, give or take, to finish it so it's not incredibly time consuming. unless you get into the challenges which could take a while.

you'd have to... but then when do you know when to switch it on if you're never using it? the only reason i found the invisible hidden breakables was running around with detective mode on the whole time.

It's usually fairly obvious if you have exhausted all other means. I know where I have to get and there is obviously no other way in. So far the story does a good job at hinting when it's necessary.

I gave up around the time I had to follow fingerprints. That was just too much aimless wandering for me.
