In an interview this week, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House has said the company expects a "a huge amount of growth for the [console] business" following the recent PS3 price cut and the release of the Slim PS3.
"I think what I've heard anecdotally is that this is the point people were waiting for - a redesigned model and, in Euros, a significant price reduction," ... [ read the full article ]

Red Maw, you will be glad to know that you can get a Refurb 60gig and 80gig from Gamestop with BC for under $400. Look forward to seeing you on PSN. Also, I will trade you my working 60gig for a unboxed Slim. I never play PS2 games on it.
Killerbug, MS just bought the rights for the DL on GTA, not the whole game. I may be wrong, but i think Sony has done the same thing for the next game.

And she is being held accountable for it. She continually spews false unfounded accusations that I am a paid Sony employee and keeps violating rules on a regular basis. And those who don't learn from her example will be equally dealt with accordingly as well ~

So to those who keep pushing the rules, don't bitch when they push back HARDER.
Originally posted by Red_Maw: While varnull's first comment may not have been to everyone's liking, it was only an opinion on the topic and NexGen76 took the first stab at another member. It is fine to disagree over something, but making it personal in anyway is completely uncalled for and rather then go in that direction it is better to keep the comments to yourself and ignore the "offending" post. Not doing so only has the potential of creating incidents like this.
varnull's counter (attack) had a lot more hostility in it and a few accusations, yet it was still a response. Only banning varnull certaintly doesn't help disprove them either. NexGen76 shares equal responsibility in this, if not more, for taking a poke at varnull when they could have left well enough alone.
On the original topic of this thread, I know several people who feel that the price cut makes the PS3 worth buying so maybe it will increase profits/growth. Personally I don't feel that a PS3 without backwards compatibility is worth buying. The PS2 games I want to play far out weigh the sole PS3 game I have a slight interest in, although heavy rain is looking pretty good. One difference between me and everyone I know that's getting or wants to get a PS3 slim is that they all have PS2's. As soon as sony quits trying to sell their antiquated PS2 console for 100$ and reintegrates it into the PS3 the better off they'll be imo. I think that attempting to squeeze a bit more money out of the PS2 is holding the PS3 back. If they had a PS3 with backwards compatibility for 400$ or less I would buy one tomorrow, but as it is I'll just hold my money and wait for them to release a product that (I feel) is worth buying.
OK that's it. Since we have legitimate readers who like to read the news and DON'T act like 12 year olds, we won't cease writing these little blurbs on games industry. But as a temporary measure until the coders make it possible to ban users from posting news comments (but not posting on forum), and until we send out a round of abuse complaints to a number of Internet Service Providers, all new games/console items will have comments closed to users as standard - this thread is now closed.
If you post on the forums, fair enough, if you step over the line on ANY rule then you will be banned by Mods, you already know this. But comments are on the English main site, this is our domain and we're sick of this crap now. Again sorry for the inconvenience caused to our majority of users.
