Hi can you help.
Ive just bought my ten year old son an x-box 360 elite, he is desperate to go live for his birthday(sunday)
I have no clue what i need to get
I have a cabled PC so assume i will need a wireless router of some sort
My PC does not have wireless capabilites
Do i need a wireless adaptor for the xbox it will be upstairs away from the router
Many thanks for any help

yes you will need a wireless adapter to go onto xbox live and then you can purchase a subscription directly on the xbox by entering credit card info, or go to your lo cal walmart and by a "pre-paid" card and just have your son enter the code on the card.
Beware: There are alot of assholes on xbox live that say shit you probablly didnt even know was possible, including myself. watch what your son plays. maybe look into taking the mic away and muting other peoples voices. (very easy to do) but the video games themselves can be a little rough to and say "f***" all day long. just monitor what he does thats all.

Thanks for that, i didnt even realise you could actually chat to people, i just thought he could play alongside others.
Wont be much fun for him if hes being told hes crap all the time

Do you already have a wireless router or is your modem connected directly to your PC.

i dont think hard wiring is an option for this lady, as she said it would be upstairs away from the router. which could also play into the wireless option. how far away is the 360 going to be from the router? directly upstairs, completely across the house?
also, you can set up the 360 to only allow certain games to be played by their ratings (under 10 year old category, mature, learning, etc.) this would be an easy way to keep your kid from getting cussed at and everything else.

i was thinkg she put the xbox closer to the modem to save money
