Hi , i will try and keep this short...i have 2 xbox 360s both with separate live gold accounts.....can sign both into live but then straight away one gets disconnected. Does anybody know a way round this as we would both like to play against each other or just go on live with friends at the same time. im with virgin broadband which is 10meg and i am using a belkin f5d8231-4 n1 router...oh and one xbox is hard wired and one is wireless ( even though they still don't both work hard wired )...any ideas pleas...thanks

they all just worked. most of us had our own router in our rooms, but i had to mess around with my router to open the ports up and a couple of other things so i could chat on LIVE as it wouldnt allow me to at first.

I have had a similar problem a couple years back at my friend's house. Do you think that maybe you could specify a little more information? I assume these are under the same router that has wireless and 4-5 ethernet ports. Have you tried reseting your modem with everything off. Once your modem boots up and displays functioning LEDs then plug in your router then turn on your boxes. If this still doesn't fix the problem then connect a computer to your router and run "ipconig -all" this will tell you the default gateway and such. Usually assigning a two static IPs on your xboxs will fix it as long as they are not the same IP. I usually use an IP like: 192.168.0.128. And a DNS as: 192.168.1.2. If the problem still persists then set the IP back to automatic or DHCP. Sometimes this fixes the problem as well. I do know that MS is not perfect so sometimes you can actually link two accounts to one email address. Very rare but my friend's is like that and he can't have both of his accounts on line at the same time. I don't think that is the case. Also sometimes a modem can't assign enough IPs...I have heard of this but never witnessed it...I am not an expert but have quite a bit of experience because I work at a gaming store with 16 xbox 360's running almost all of the time. Also look up NAT settings to see if they are restricted or open. If you could give some more info maybe I can give more specific advice.

ok , wow lots of info there ...the 2 xbox's are running through the same router. i have tried all the resetting the modem and router and still no joy and i have also put one of the xbox's outside the routers firewall ( dmz i think it was) and that didnt work either...so do u think that giving both xboxs seperate static ip's may solve this and if so is it easy to do as i aint really got a clue on this side of things....only the basics...thanks in advance

forgot to mention ...on the old xbox dashboard you could see what your NAT was but on the new dashboard it doesn't seem to give you the option of viewing NAT

i think after you run your network tests, if you hit Y or one of the other buttons it will pop up with all the info the old dash had.
