Im trying take the POT calibration reading but my multimete is only saying one.Does the drive have to be on when i take it?I try it with the console on and it's not doing anything.Can some get me some help please i try moda tutorial but im doing wat it say buy their is no reading.

I had that problem. I'd never used a multimeter before and there really weren't any detailed instructions. The pictures I used showing where to take the readings weren't very detailed either.

When I tried taking a reading it would either not move (stay on 1) or would jump around wildly. I found, after a while, that if I just held the probes in place while the reading jumped around, it settled down(ish). But even then the reading it settled on was 4.66, quite a bit outside what the doc. said was "normal". So I just had to make an assumption that it was correct.

In the end I changed the setting all the way down to 3.00. The drive still doesn't work. :/

i prefer 'high times' for my pot reading. just kidding. you should probably just replace the laser or the drive, either of which would be easier than messing around with the pot.

One of the prongs needs to be right in the middle of the brass circle. the other prong needs to be touching the solder behind the brass ring.make sure the prongs are not touching each or coming into contact with any other part of the drive. It is very fiddly to do especially if you havent taken the ribbon cable off. (Which I don't recommend as those ribbons bend and break real easy)
