Hi there

I am sure you have replied to this sort of post 100`s of times but I have dug deep in this forum and many, Meny others to find my answear, But I'm still a little confused. So here goes....

I bought an xbox360 about 2 years ago, it was new and flashed when I bought it. My xbox 360 has a Samsung drive but I don't have the original firmware for it. I'm looking to upgrade the firmware on my xbox so that I can back up and play the new wave 3 games I have. I want to try and reflash my xbox myself because I don't want to have to pay someone for doing it for me everytime a new firmware is released.

Anyway, I have never flashed an xbox before and I was looking for a bit of help in doing so. I have just bought the vt6421 SATA PCI adapter card which you need to flash the xbox and I was wondering if there was anything else I needed to get before I start. I have read somewhere where people has used an xbox 360 connectively kit to power their xbox 360 drive for flashing, Is this kit really needed?

I have done a bit of searching on the internet, and I have found out that there are a number of different programs and ways of flashing the xbox360. And I am a bit unsure as to which method is the best and simplest to do. This will be my first time flashing an xbox 360 and I don't want to screw my xbox up.

As I said I don't have the origianl firmware for my xbox because I didn't flash it myself before I bought it already flashed. Does it matter if I don't have the original firmware.

Is the flashing method for upgrading the firmware on an already flashed xbox different from the flashing method used when first flashing an xbox?

Thanks for reading and any help that anybody can offer would be greatly appreciated.

You cant do anything without your OG firmware. The only thing you could do is patch the games to make them run with a lower version firmware

chaos is completely wrong. with a samsung you still have the original firmware. you will get it when you dump the firmware with jungleflasher. a great place to start is by reading the samsung section of the jungleflasher tutorial. after you have read that feel free to come back and ask some more detailed questions.

Wabashman is right. All you have to do is dump the firmware and you will have your DVDkey. You can then spoof the info to the new iXtreme and flash back.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I have taken a quick read of the jungle flasher tutorial as suggested and I have a few questions I was hoping that you (or anyone else) could answer for me.

1. With Jungleflasher is all the xbox flashing done through windows or do I have to go into DOS for any stage of the flashing.

2. When exactly do I connect my xbox to my computer and when do I switch it on.

3. Do I just power my xbox with its own power lead or do I have to get one of the xbox connection kits which I have read about somewhere.

4. After I have flashed my xbox is there a copy of the original firmware saved somewhere during the jungleflasher process as a back up.

Thanks again for reading this and sorry if these questions sound stupid but I just want to know exactly what I have to do before I start, after all, I have never done this before and I don't want to screw my xbox up.
