err...ummm....I wonder how often I've made that exact mistake. I honestly appreciate the notice. Oh, and good job spotting it, I think it's much less obvious than the one I pointed out. Your proofreading skills are better than mine.

Actually I find it quite interesting. More importantly though I find it very profitable. Applied statistics have let me waste a ton of money on hobbies that I couldn't otherwise afford.

One more, non-controversial, questions if I may. Where do you guys find the best deals on media? I paid $24 USD on Newegg for a 20 pack of Verbs, can you tell me where to find better?

I'm still stuck with Verbs...I hear people saying a different brand works and then there is an "except with...".

I've used verbs with cheap drives, expensive drives, half working drives with no isses...just my experience.

How much are you folks spending on verbs anyway? They are only about a $1.10 a piece...if that is to much for a $40 game...well..not sure what to say...you buy your other brands...one fails...you are already over the price of a verb...

I get it...if you have a combination of a drive and media that works...great...but don't say "This media is GREAT!!!...except with this drive on a Sunday when the football game is on and it's raining.."..heheh..if it was GREAT it would work all the time in any drive..

Not real serious here but people are going to be reading these posts looking for opinions and probably drunk, high or tired and misread or think that this "other" brand will work in their drive...and chance are it won't...or onl some will..and then you'll have that person posting "I burnt this game 5 times on this media, but when I went to burn this other game...it wouldn't...what is the scientific reason why it doesn't work while the football game is on and it's raining...

haha..
AJAJAJAJAAA ROFL!!!!!!! Maybe it depends on whether the Giants or the Colts are playing while your burning, HMMMMM! lololol

I feel the same exact way as you joe and i also never had one coaster with my verbs honest to god. I used memorex before for god knows what reason, i was probably being cheap at the time and i can tell you i had more than 5 coasters out of like, maybe 20 games id say, more or less, but it still doesnt pan out as well as 10-15 succesful burns with no coasters at all ;)

ps... and thats just xbox 360 i also used verbs with ps2 and they were flawless as well (but i really dont need to tell you guys about verbs cuz yall already know)

Newegg and Amazon are pretty much the cheapest around. Sams deal is great too. Keep an eye out on slickdeals or get an rss for verb deals cuz they once in a while pop up.

Actually hoemsick aone can be made by 2 good manufacturers - Taiyo which is the creme de la creme and Ricoh which ain't shabby either.
link
They're not getting the best reviews on the above link - mixed and some good - but I've used both brands w/o issue.

edit to clarify - the single layer are made by Taiyo and the dual layer are made by Ricoh.

they are garbage for using it for the product at hand binkie7. The 360's laser does not like it, thus straining it to read the disc, making the laser die out quickly.

Hitachi's don't like any discs. Some can't read until you adjust the height and/or POT and even then (including verbs) they still keep skipping during spin up (the laser keeps moving out too far where there's no data).

How can you say memorex work with no problems and then say the 360 can't read them if the laser is weak...possibly that is why the laser is weak...from trying to read the memorex???

Compusa is TD's sister company, they are practically the same, they both stock pretty much the same items.

My personal beginner opinion is to start with putting in an original xbox 360 game and make sure it works.

Then put in an original DVD movie and make sure it plays

Then burn a game onto a Verbatim DVD and see if it works..

Hitachi + memorex = NO

Hitachi is a bit picky for it's media and if it plays original xbox games then it still has the right key, but could be unflashed, try a better brand disc or get a lend of a working backup to test first as some people have working memorex discs.
