I recently got GHV and it prompts for an update. I have a WiiKey installed and was wondering if anyone has done the update with it yet? (I know the game isn't out yet...so I'm not sure how many other ppl reading this has access to the game yet.)

the info about it i have found so far is :
You need to use the update that is on the disk otherwise you will get the black screen.
The update on the disk is IOS56.
C&P from another site:
"in order to get this to work, you must download or extract IOS56-64-V5146.wad from the disk and install it"
You should be able to browse the disk with Wii scrubber to extract the file.
I have heard that it is not working with softmodded Wiis though.
So if you have a softmod then you may need to wait for an update or until someone finds a workaround.

Got it working on usb loader gx. wii ntsc 4.1u.
install the wad as already mentioned.
I had to install hermes ios 222/223. Install ios 223 with ios 37 merged with 36. Load usb loader. Go into settings for guitar hero 5. Change ios from 249 to 223. Turn error 002 fix on. Click disc and play. Here is were i got hermes ios 222/223

When I load Guitar Hero 5, and it's a rip of my own copy to a USB drive. It's not a download. I think I am following instructions for a scrubbed copy. But anyways, I have the Configurable USB Loader set up and all my other games work. When I load Guitar Hero 5. I use the setting 222-mload and I have tried other settings too like 223-mload and played around with other settings there too. Nothing works.
It will hang up at Inti: ehcmodule4.elf ...
That is where it stops.
Anyone have any ideas?

if your still having issues with a USB loader then try another - not all USB loaders are created equal

If that doesn't work, try IOS 222. When I followed that guide I was still getting a black screen with IOS 223. Although I haven't tried the game itself(other than loading it to see if it boots properly), I am no longer getting a black screen.

Hi,
Sorry for the newbie post. I have wiikey 1.9s and am on 4.1J (RVL001 LJF) with twilight hack for HBC.
I bought GHV US and came here to check on functionality.
Seems most posts are about softmod or backup games. If I run the US game in my Jap wii as stated, will it fully brick or just wreak havoc on my brew?
I haven't really used the HBC, so I do not have backups or much familiarity with it at this time. The only thing I see mentioned related to 4.1 is if you run it from the same region it will work, but did not see a response to different NTSC region use.
I did see "4.1 and below Firmware Softmod Guide (All Systems Except For Korean)" but I guess it was a little overwhelming for me. Things got even worse when I didn't see my serial # listing in the first section.

It took me weeks to get GH 5 working with USB Loader GX. But i did the hermes thing and it worked after i did the following. 222 patch 38 to 37, and 38 to 60. Then 223..do the same thing. Then run it as 223.
But the thing they kept leaving out which was messing me was that when your installing the final one choose 223 when asked which IOS to install on. The first 2 times i did it under 249 IOS. Still do that but then do it under 223 the last time then patch 38,37 & 38,60
Worked for me, and it also fixed the Super Smash Bros Brawl problem with USB loader where it says please eject disc during cut scenes!

I believe if u update ur Jap Wii with a US game, it will probably semi-brick ur Wii.
I had accidentally done this in the past on accident :/ I thought I was updating w/ a US version and turned out to be a UK version of a game. I was able to fix it though.
Semi-brick's can be very annoying because it blocks you from changing preferences in your Wii Settings. So you can't change ur internet settings or anything like that.
So, stay away from updating w/ games out of ur Wii console's region :)

Thanks, I guess I will have to run the usb loader then... Unless anyone is interested in a modded Jap wii! :-)

using usbloader, does that mean I need to copy the game to the drive, or does this just allow the game to run like normal from the purchased disk?

USB loader can install the game directly to your usb drive if you have the disc....or have wbfs formatted drive. You can do it directly from your PC once you have WBFS software. But once you open USB loader and put a disc in it will automaticaly ask to install game.
