Hi,

I am trying to make a backup of an XBOX 360 game. I am using XBC 2.9.
The start button is greyed out. I don't know how to start the rip. It is a DL reader/burner

You can't rip a 360 game with just any ordinary DVD DL drive. You must either have a Kreon DVD drive or a 360 drive flashed with 0800 firmware.

You need a Kreon-compatible drive. Get one of the Samsung SH-D16XX models, and then flash it with Kreon firmware. Should cost you a little over $30 after shipping if you look at ebay.

EDIT: Beaten to it, and I forgot about 0800 firmware :(

If I get one of the Samsung SH-D16XX Drives and flash it with the appropriate firmware can I attach it to my computer via sata to usb or ide to usb? I do not have a desktop.

Or else I would need to flash my 360 with 0800 to rip and then flash again 1.6 to play?

you can put it in a external Dvd drive inclusure that will allow you to connect it via eSata or usb depending on witch one you buy if your xbox is currently flashed with ixtreme 1.6 you do not need to buy anything if you had a desktop and were able to connect it to a sata port but unfortunatly a sata to usb cunvertor will not work with the ixtreme 1.6 firmware so unfortunatly you will not be able to use this method on your laptop
