I have a LU38 Wii console which I used the Wii Softmodding for Newbies guide at wiiguide.co.cc. I was successful at downgrading IOS35 but became stuck on step 8 "Install Channels". I received a CIOS249 not found, installing title error (ret=-1035) error.

I then found a different set of software and successfully installed the Homebrew Channel on my wii. Trying to follow two sets of instructions has really confused me. Can anyone please walk me through what I need to do next?

It looks like my next step is to install cIOS36_rev8. I'm probably blind (I am getting older) LOL. Can you please direct me to the download for this software?

Also, I bought a copy of Wii sports resort. When I put the disk in I received this message. Any thoughts? Thanks

Does my guide say anything about cIOS36_rev8?

I said to follow the 4.1 firmware softmod guide that I have linked in my sig.

IF YOUR WII IS 4.0 OR BELOW AND ALREADY SOFTMODED (with [b]cIOS36_rev8 [/b]or higher and homebrew channel) ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UPDATE TO 4.1 USING THE NINTENDO SERVERS (how you normally would update). THEN INSTALL THE IOS60PATCHED.WAD AND RUN IOS DOWNGRADER!

I ran IOS35 downgrade. Which would indicate to me that I am now running a version below 4.0 right? My original version was 4.1U before I started to mod the unit. So, wouldn't I need to have CIOS36 rev8?

I don't think so. All I did was follow the first 7 steps of the Wii softmodding for newbies guide. This included:

1.) Turning off wiiconnect24
2.) Determining firmware version which was version 4.0u originally.
3.) Preparing my SD card with a backuploaderinstaller.zip.
4.) Started to softmod using BannerBomb.
5.) Loaded the boot.dol file.
6.) Downgraded wii by loading LoadMii and selecting downgrade IOS35.dol file.
7.) Went to WADBatchInstaller.dol.
8.) Started this step to install the channels IOS35 and this is where I received the CIOS249 error (ret=-1035) error message.

Following this I found a different thread and successfully installed the Homebrew network.

Why are you even following that part of the guide if you don't have a cIOS installed. That part is for those that already have softmoded there system. Read the guide and follow it.

I don't know how to make it any less idiot proof then what it is.
