OK, so after the hard vs softmod debate I thought I would give the USB laoder GX v 1.0 a try to see what the fuss was about.

Hardmodded 4.1u wii with latest 4.1 softmod guide (as per Larry) installed, I can move and play wads and most homebrew. Bootmii and preloader installed.

I tried 2 games, 1 loaded from the Pc from a working ISO and 1 ripped on the wii from a working disc, here's my problems so far, probably settings.

Mario Kart, loads fine at full speed but screen goes black after license choice. Runs fine from disc. I installed this from the Wii.

Papa Science, installed this from the pc, game loads and runs but at probably half the speed, choppy video and game plays like swimming in soup. Again, the disc works perfectly through the normal disc channel.

Before I install or try any more, does anybody know why this happens and are these common problems?

Thanks.

I would try using SDUSB-Loader_cfg40 (based on v1.5 by Waninkoko) which you can get HERE.

I had a lot of issues with USB Loader GX and switch to the above linked loader and haven't had issues.

Thanks, will give it a try.

I tried Neogamma R6 last night after making the post and both games did exactly the same, maybe I coincidenctly have two bad rips.

Will give this a go when I actually wake up and remember my name LOL

Couple of days into this, and was almost a 100 percent convert, damn easy to install games, very nice gui, customizable and fast...UNTIL.

My wife asks me to put her Boogie Superstar and American Idol games on.

What's with the mic not working? it works fine when I use a disc on any of the games.

I did a search and noticed many had this problem without finding a true fix, I am on rev14, anybody know how to make the mic work with the hdd plugged in?

Try install cIOS222 by coder Hermes and change USB loader GX to use this cIOS when playing games with mic.

I can't confirm that this works, but what I have heard/read it should solve your broblem.

If you try this I would like to hear results.

So I download and installed cIOS222 and installed (using defaults)

Unfortunately no difference whatsoever. Looking like I may have to let the wife play her singing games via discs only.

After a bit of reading elsewhere, I tried something else and resolved this issue.

For anybody with similar issue, I installed 222 default and installed 223 on 37 merged 36 mic now works perfect.
