can someone help me i have just bought a 500g external hard drive for my laptop,i have a soft mod wii with usb loader can you use the usb loader straight of your external hard drive or do you have to use it from your laptop,just want to know cause i am fed up buying discs all the time and half the time they dont work. thanks all

The external hard drive will be connected to your Wii when you are playing games. It has to be formatted to WBFS (as opposed to FAT32, NTSC, etc)

If you have a game on your laptop that you want to put on your external hard drive you can use a pc program called WBFS Manager.

Either connect the hard drive to the Wii and start USB Loader or you can use WBFS Manager to do it using your computer. http://wbfsmanager.codeplex.com/

It has to be dual partitioned. A certain amount of GB for WBFS and a certain amount of GB for the other file system.

No, but I used Easeus Partition Master
http://www.partition-tool.com/

I'd temporarily move the stuff on your hard drive that you want to save to another location before trying to partition it though.

And make sure that the size you decide on for both partitions is sufficient for the future because trying to change things later will definitely be a hassle.

sorry for annoying you again mate, i downloaded the software and i also partitioned my external hard drive too but when i went to format my external hard drive a message keeps comin up sayin AN ERROR OCCURED WHILE ATTEMTING TO FORMAT DRIVE, what went wrong.

Make sure the partitions are primary and active partitions.

The partition you want to save normal files to should be the first partition and you can format it to whatever file system you want (If your going to store files larger then 4GB on this partion then format it to NTSC).

The second partition should be the WBFS partition. This partition needs to be formated to FAT32 (not exfat or NTSC) before converting the partition to WBFS.

Take a look at the USB Device compatibility list HERE. See if your USB device is listed. If it is then it should say if it is compatible or not.

What is the model # of the drive?

Hey larrylje got the usb loader workin all i had to do was update the software on my wii and yous ure guide after that and everythin is up and runnin like clock work. thanks very much big man

sorry i wanted to ask i am using ultimate usb loader 7.4 of my sd card to load the games,is there anyway that i can load the games without usin the sd card.
