i dont know what firmware i have installed, as it was done at a shop, i cant update the firmware, because... frankly, i'm hopeless with it! i dont use live, and have been patching the wave 3 games.

all games are burned to verbatims, it's all i've ever used (other media doesn't work with my burner!)
the drive is the hitachi one, but i dont know the firmware (it was put on around last spring/summer time if thats any help??)
i dont think it's a laser problem, because original games load up no problem, all latest games load no problem too... games such as 'burnout paradise' (and certain others from around that time) fail to load! they may work one day, but the next they fail!
all the games are stored in plastic wallets, and in a rack out the way.
if you can play wave 3 games your on ixtreme 1.51 or 1.6. maybe you need to run them through abgx. i think i read that 1.6 is fussy with stealth or summin.
its the media, if it is just older burns causing the problem, even though you used verbs, the media isnt as perfect as a retail game, it degrades over time. the only other possibilty is that your laser needs a pot cal. or your need a new laser all together, but you claiming that other games works perfect means that cant really be true. only other possib. is that those burns were bad/corrupt and you didnt know it.
Degradation could be the answer, but try out abgx and choose to scan one of the older games. If it comes up with 'Stealth failed', it isn't going to play on some of the newer iXtremes, because they don't play unstealthed games (for your protection). Let us know what you find.
