Game update OK for backups?

When a game like Fable 2 or assassin's creed says it needs to install an update when you first put the game in should I say no to that when using a backup? I don't mean an xbox dashboard update, just the one that certain games want. I read somewhere that I shouldn't update because it makes a backup not work.

you need to read somemore and find more reliable places.
if you intend to play your backups online you have to update it.
and as far as dashboard updates go, you have to take them to.

it is ok to do a game update, the system updates are what gets you banned.

system updates get u banned?

I recently flashed my benq drive. And I looked to see if there was any other way to get banned outside of playing games early or playing unpatched games.

So is it really true that when the Xbox does its system updates like once or twice every 6 months u can get banned?

Should I format my discs before copying or it doesn't matter?
I'm waiting for my system that I sent out to be flashed but I could be burning discs in the meantime. I did one so far and didn't format but can't test yet.

you dont have to format the discs as formating means erase, and the discs are new with nothing on them. lol anyways i would be burning games if i were you, you want to make sure you are burning right, otherwise you just blew through a all of your cd's if you are doing it wrong.

I just did the one so far. I'm pretty sure it's right since I watched how to burn on youtube.com and abgx360 said it was good on the file and the burned disc.
