If I purchase the Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3 Pro, can I flash via the USB option, or is the SATA port support needed in addition to the USB support.
I have a laptop so I don't have SATA port, nor pcmcia slot (newer dell). Can I just use the USB support option?
I have a xbox with the liteon version drive.
thx in advance.

The USB for the CK3 Pro is for dumping the 74850C Lite-ON DVDkey. As for getting the drive detected, a SATA to USB adapter might work. I haven't ever tried one. Maybe somebody who has can come along a confirm it works.

yes i have tried with a usb to sata cable and have not had any luck with it. Apparently a connectivity kit is needed but idk. i got so fed up with it and just did it with a desktop.

eetelier is right, flashing via SATA through USB won't work ..
a connectivity kit is needed:
a) if you have a LiteON than the probe is needed to extract the key of the drive and then use it to spoof the new firmware.
b) the connectivity kit is needed to power the drive, rather than using the Xbox 360 itself. here's the link to remove any doubt:

Good luck ..

The connectivity kit is not required by any means as long as you have a key reader. That goes for ONLY the Lite-On 74850c drive. No other drive needs a spear and no drive, PERIOD, needs a connectivity kit. Powering the drive through the 360 is, as far as anyone is aware, perfectly fine at this point. It's the way most people have flashed their drives, and nobody has been confirmed to be banned for that reason.

i've been looking into doing this and have come up with this...
You need this satapcmcia card
You'll also need someway of powering the xbox dvd drive, you can use the xbox itself, or if you need greater portability you should get a connectivity kit (CK3 or other) and an external molex power supply to power it. I've both all these things and still haven't tried it though, because my laptop has an express port and not a pcmcia port and the adapters are about 50 dollars, so it'll be a while before i try it.
